Yes, you could do this. But my point was, it's more complex to do these things in Falcon than it is in Serum. That's all. Falcon is a much more powerful synth but does require more effort. That was my point.EvilDragon wrote:You can always load up the second instance of the oscillator in series to beef it up with another 8 voices of unison, if you want... And keep adding oscillators to get even more unison...wagtunes wrote:And of course, Falcon's limted to 8 voice unisoon while Sersum goes as far as 16 voice unison.
Also you can unison up the whole synth structure if you want (at Layer level - and it goes up to 256 voices here!), but that can quickly munch a ton of CPU.
And I'm sorry that people feel that have to make an issue of listing my synths. Not everybody here has seen them and I wanted to emphasize how much I love Falcon over everything else I own.
Now that I've said that, it's probably best that I just stay out of this thread until I have another demo track to post. I know that's allowed as Simon has posted at least 20 of them himself.

Thank You for making a feature request!wagtunes wrote:...yes, this is a feature request, PLEASE add more phase distortion options, especially sync. They will help a lot.
It is remarkable that we all want more.

I love Falcon. I'm very pleased with all of my UVI stuff. I appreciate the continuous improvements and steady updates for Falcon.
That said, Jeez! That's 3 updates in a row that take 15 minutes to download. Averaging around 250KB/Sec. I have a 300 Mb/sec connection. Please allow me to stop dreading a simple 390 MB download. IMHO, it's an important part of a company's online presence.
Carry on.

Falcon sounds clean and flat compared to serum and other top synths, but it have a lot of stuff for sounddesign. Unfortunately the sound is bad for this price, specially the analog section is ridiculous.

"Clean" and "flat" are sort of contradicting adjectives which makes this statement a bit subjective, no?TrueAndFalse wrote:Falcon sounds clean and flat compared to serum and other top synths, but it have a lot of stuff for sounddesign. Everything about sound is subjective. But none of the Falcon demos I've heard online made me want to buy it.
However I don't like Serum's sound either.

Falcon is an awesome tool for sound design for sure since there are not much tools where you can go so wild with modulations and comes with fantastic FX.....but for me it is stil not usable due to cpu consumption. I use a macbook pro late 2013, i7 2.0 ghz quadcore. As long as it not allows multi threading in near future i regret the buy.
I also don´t like the workflow much and i can get faster results with a combination of other tools.
That is of course just my personal opinion in terms of my personal likes and wokflow.
It´s a bit odd that there is no demo....(or is there a demo yet?).
As always it is a matter of taste and no one can answer if a tool fits for another person.....

Yes it is. There are sooo many things that can fool your ears. The human sense are full of subjective interpretation. After few seconds you cant here the same details as at the beginning and so on and so on. Look at science articels about that.Sampleconstruct wrote:No, it's not, that's the problem with forums like these.recursive one wrote:Everything about sound is subjective.

I'm afraid - my opinion of course - that the roadblock in your hardware is the 2GHz per core.
Multi threading is something quite specific. I mean: for some calculations multicore processing works fine but others rely more on the speed of a core. Compare a big truck with a Ferrari. Both have their advantages.
Cache may also play a role. And nowadays, 2GB is not much anymore (where are the days of 500MHz being esotherically fast?)
For as far as the workflow is concerned, my point of view is diametrically opposed to yours. I find Falcon extremely logical, efficient and so easy to grasp that I could concentrate on experimenting and the what much sooner than with most other synths. It allows me to do things I have never been able to do before.
Perhaps I think more in a French manner...
No offence meant, but why would you want a demo whilst you are already using Falcon?

But you're talking about the perception of sound, not the scientific facts. A forum like this would probably not exist if there wasn't all this voodoo talk about sound being warm/cold/harsh/lush/analog/digital, filters being creamy, envelopes being snappy, interpolations being smooth...TrueAndFalse wrote:Yes it is. If people engaging so emotionally in those discussions until they get banned for life would really want to know, they would take a few hours using some of those very advanced analysis tools available to us nowadays and reveal, why synth A sounds the way it does in comparison to synth B and that the tiny differences in the frequency spectrum of a square wave really weren't worth calling that other guy a trolling idiot.
