Agreed. Although it might be beneficial to have a default that looks "professional". I know this is not a very helpful statement, but somehow I cannot shake the feeling that both GUIs look more like what you would expect on a low-priced/freeware synth (where the developer him/herself does the GUI instead of paying a UI designer).CinningBao wrote:I think the product would benefit from more than one skin - though, it doesn't bother me that much. Thanks. Glad you like it. Yes, different opinions. That"s why we askMikeCallon wrote:That brushed metal finish looks really cool - I love itLotuzia wrote:What do you guys think about a replacement, or alternative, skin that would look like this (it's a draft) ?
It's a lot of additional work, but ...
So ... Black skin is better, metal one ? Both ? Please comment.![]()
But if would be nice to have the choice of one or the other - I'm sure you'll get several different opinions on this

Thanks. Yes it's very different. i like the brushed metal look as well, but the original was pretty decent itself. "Akai beige" might also be nice.
the "sunken" parts of the GUI still look a bit out of place (oh well), but the shadowing is better now.

Thanks Justin, yes the sunken parts are more sophisticated. *Akai* Beige : Yeah, could have been, good idea I think. Still have an Akai sampler. But the brushed metal is nice.jbuonacc wrote:i like the brushed metal look as well, but the original was pretty decent itself. "Akai beige" might also be nice.

I see that most people here would like to have the choice actually. I hope that if we go for the brushed metal and dual skin, not all people will finally prefer the black skin

Hi Lalo,
I rechecked it, and it work OK in Cubase and S1 ( with the last beta, wich is currently the public one atm) . Could you please try the following experience ( if you haven"t done it until now )
1/ Play StiX thru a midi track assigned to channel 1
2/ Create another midi track in your daw, and assign it to channel 2 : You should be able to control all the parameters of the Bass Drum ( or whatever 'soudn' is loaded in the BD *drumpad* )
3/ Create a 3rd Midi Track and assign it to midi channel 3 : You should be able to control all the parameters of the Snare ( or whatever 'soudn' is loaded in the Snare *drumpad* )
Note : A given midi Cc should always control the same parameter. (ie if Cc 21 controls the Stretch macro Knob, it will control it for the BD, Snare, aso )
I cant see why it should not work in Reaper, but well, we'll see. Thanks in advance if you can do this little test, and apologizes if you have already made it.
Edit : If you have a novation keyboard, I can send you my 'minimal' midimap for these keyboards.( Non automap, juts a one page map with the Eazy Page Macro pacro controls assigned )

Installed 0.9.8b and it seems that this crash is resolved. I can insert now Stix during playback.stardustmedia wrote:Installation of the full version (v0.9.for iLok went fine on Mavericks 10.9.5

Two more issues found (Logic 10.2.0, Mavericks 10.9.5, Stix 0.9.8b)
- Copy then paste of one sequencer line takes a long time. Especially when clicking 'PST'. About 10-20 seconds. And the rainbow wheel of death is shown. So everything is blocked meanwhile.
- Inserting a multi-output instance with 16 stereo outs results in a very nasty sine signal at +7.5 dBFS on the left side. Inserting the normal instance or the multi-output stereo version don't do that.

Really do love the new skin of v0.98c, really is a great improvement. I can't remember now but were the -init- default drum kit always this noisy ? Had headphones on and pressed the keyboard to trigger a drum and nearly crapped myself - Every key was pure noise mixed with a loud bass square wave ! *regains composure*

It's the default GUI in V 0.98C. ( The black screen will be back in the future, but the brushed metal was easier to finalize first )

Thanks for the report(s). In Cubase, inserting StiX while the daw is running works, but sometimes StiX will begin to play immediatly with an offset regarding the beginning of the bar. Just pressing 'stop then start' on the daw fixes the problem though. Glad it works ok now (and we'll have a look at the other things you mentioned).stardustmedia wrote:Installed 0.9.8b and it seems that this crash is resolved.
