Live 9 - defining Midi cc

For some reason I can't figure out the solution to the following:

Where I'm at the moment (on the road) I don't have any full Midi controller, just my laptop, Daw is Live 9 and Novation mini (which sends just limited cc#, not cc 064).

I playing with the Truepiano and should create a sustain pedal control track. Truepianos sustain pedal = cc064.

How to create a sustain pedal control track?

One additional question: is there any way doing the above otherwise than drawing the automation line?
I mean if you can´t send cc064 via your controller, is there a way how to re-define somehow the external controller cc to
cc064 or use some tool, in piano sustain pedal would need live-playing to get right, and drawing the automation line isn´t quite working.

You could try Cableguys MidiShaper. I've used their VolumeShaper to modulate cc's. Works pretty well.

Live has some MIDI tools. There is likely someting in it to do the job, I'm sure. Unfortunately I can't say what they are because I tend to use 3rd party. The Max 4 Live GUI's do not inspire me to work with it.

I didn't know that you can do that kind of thing with the VolumeShaper. This cool plugin has been in my to-buy list waiting for some time, maybe I should make it real now, especially if the demo shows that cc modulation works. Thank you.

Yes, thank you - but if you have played a piano, you have found out that the sustain pedal is very sensitive effect, easy to overdo, and if you don't have a proper footpedal, even the knob or fader are rather bad controllers, not to mention drawing/editing the automation.

With VolumeShaper I have sent many different cc values (CC1 - MW, CC7 - Vol., CC11 - Expression, etc., etc.), but it appears MidiShaper may be better suited for this job. I have not tried it since VolumeShaper does/did what I need.

TBH, nothing will replace the pedal and your experience/abilities with it, but in a pinch like you are in, tools like Cableguys products will substitute nicely.

Drawing automation and C>P will work in a pinch but does get tedious after having worked with controllers. We get spoiled easily

Thank you for asking, so far used just the drawing tool/automation, back home again with my main DAW incl. the footpedal. Will test the Midishaper, too, with time.
