doctorbob wrote:Hi all,

I have a strange problem ... using the built in presets, I can audition and play the sounds just fine.

If I load up the fxb from the site download (Blue Sin by Alter Boy), none of those presets create sound. I can see the midi is hitting the synth, but no audio output. Anyone else have this problem?

Help!

Cheers,

dB

PS If I find the solution, I'll post here of course.
Try switching midi through on/off
I mean turn it off...(wait and do nothing)..then back on again.
What I ment to say was, as soon as i load the blue sin bank and start to play a note, nothing happens !
Then I turn off the midi tru on the gui, and turn it back on.... all the presets work !

Just fine - so long as I use channel 1!

My bad - should have checked channel usage.

Thanks for the posts though. Made me work out what I was doing wrong.

Read the manual

maybe as a starting point for you ?
Thanks man, it is better than my effort and I will have a play with it. Still, I feel a bit lost without any noise gen which is a strange omission on this synth since it has 3 osc and a decent array of waveforms.

I think I would be better to just forgo the usual drumkit sounds this month and just go for unusual sound design, especially after being spoilt with all those realistic drum sounds that could be obtained with last months OSC synth :o

Made some kicks (and a hi hate based off of one ofthe default presets) - hopefully some peeps here can improve on them.

Made a little diddy to go along with it (using Kick0.fxp):

Looks like it only likes MIDI channel 1 - any way to change the channel? Not that I will have to.

Problem solved - sorry for messing the chat space.

Aha, that explains an issue I was running into Reaper! For the the OSC entries I usually route my master drum track through several midi channels/tracks into several synth instances. No wonder I was only getting my kick(channel1) when going through presets.

Thanks for the heads up! All signs are to not do much standard drum programming this time around

@bjporter nice one! I will have to steal your kick. Excellent sounds overall in your track. Now to see If anyone is game to come up with a snare sound

Thanks. I'll try to do that tomorrow. I always make a kick first, then use that for the base of the snare. Then a hi hat / clap for the top of the snare.

Good job bj porter. I was also able to make a solid kick, except I used about 10 effects to make it happen, lol.

i'm trying to make an "decent" snare but i have a lot of difficulty moving the synth knob, they move "strangely", nobody feel the same?

Yup, pretty much as I do with REAPER as well - simples!

FM with to square waves would make some nice noise but from the manual:
Frequency Modulation (FM)
Selecting "FM" from the popup menu in the osc's mod section turns frequency modulation
on. The Oscillator signal can be frequency modulated with the audio signal of an internal
oscillator. The internal FM oscillator waveform is fixed to Sine; the FM osc pitch follows the
main pitch (as played on your external MIDI keyboard) and the FM level can be controlled
by the FM knob.
... sigh ...

I did read the rules and would like to check forums opinion:
I understand that VST Amp Rack (in Cubase) effect is allowed (as long as chorus, phaser, flanger is not used). Is this OK?

There is a M-L-P switch at the top, right to the balance knob.
MLP is mono, legato, polyphony yes?
How does this relate to not triggering the sequencer, I think I have worked it out :-)
Just have to get over some of the other problems that arise from Reaper I guess!!
Might attempt Usine DAW track, that should really complicate matters :-D
