The people hanging round at KvR are 80% musicians and 50% developers. Of the developers, 80% are musicians, which makes it 0.01% of people hanging round at KvR who are just normal honest to good citizens who do not make music themselves.

But where do the rest of those honest to goodness normal people hang out? Where do they get their music downloads. I don't think they all just download Cd's from Kazoo.

They do not seem to hang around at any of the places I hang around at. Sounclick seems to be mainly musicians, future producers seems to be mainly 16 year old kids and Sonar forums seems to be mainly 12 year old kids. None of those categories appeal too much to me.

So if 80 % is musician, then 20 % is non-musician...

Developers ; 80 % of the 50 % are musicians, is 40 % So 60 % is non-musician?

I think the rest of them is in the math class trying to figure out what you are talking about :)

I've been trying to answer that same question, and so far it looks like the peer-to-peer outfits like Limewire and Kazaa are where most of the non-musicians are.

I do not know whether it is justiefied to call myself a musician or not, that's a whole discussion on its own :) but I use 'overnet' to listen to some music.

And I use a privat link that I won't mention in order to keep the link privat, but this guy has a broad taste and introduces some songs that are never going to be in the charts, although they are very good.

I must admitt I have over 400 CD's, not CDR but CD's.
And I have stopped buying albums from stores; I buy them online from the artist themselves, and YES I do download music and if I really like it, I just buy the CD.
But I am not gonna buy a CD for just 1 song.

And I have to say that I did buy some albums because of the downloading, like albums from X-Perience, and Anthony Phillips, and a Joe Satriani DVD.
