Hi there,

Here's my example: http://www21.zippyshare.com/v/Pg4mWEWY/file.html
The track is in A minor.

In the intro, the bassline is in A. At 30 seconds the chord progression comes in and if I follow the bassline, it does F > G > A > C.

I learn the basic of music theory for electronic music, and for me if my song is in A minor, the root note (my bassline) of my chord progression should start with A.

So, i'm a little lost...

Thanks! :)

No, chord progressions don't have to start on the tonic. F > G > Am > C is a very typical Am chord progression, it ticks all the right boxes note-wise. Just imagine it as Am > C > F > G but shifted for flavour. By starting below the tonic and moving up to it, it gains a sense of "building up".

Actually, I may be a bit rusty, but is that the "train hard" progression? You know, the one that plays when the runner or boxer is training in an 80's film?
