THE REAPER CARD!

:hihi:
Rightly so though, anybody who invests (time/money)in Studio One is going to be doing so alongside another host, while it has some nice work flows and some nice bells that actually whistle, it lacks a fair bit in stability and performance and some (obviously opinion) lack of basic features.
Using Reaper to fill in the gap, getting used to Reaper, selling S1, could explain the sales..... but then again so could "look at the shiny shiny" in which case at some point Presonus video hype shiny shiny nonsense will back fire too.

Like i keep saying, my S1 is not for sale YET haha
Sounds like reaper would be the better choice of studio one.

Is there a cohesion between Cockos does not bet on shows but on collaboration with users
and the fact Reaper is the least frequent sold daw in the marketplace ?
Is there a correlation between the fact that a Reaper license only costs $59 and covers two full versions, and the demo also never expires anyway and the fact that you don't frequently see secondhand copies for sale?

And regarding Reaper listening to users, I say, "sure, they'll listen...until you start asking them to make it easy to use." I own licenses for both and Studio One's lack of some features can be a drag, but the things it does well are handled in an intuitive manner with a fast workflow. Reaper on the other hand is fast from a performance perspective (kills Studio One here) but it's not the easiest DAW in the world to wrap your head around.

That's quite subjective.

'xactly. I asked myself too if it makes sense even to sell my copy here, and there were persons coming into the sales thread too, and asking (basically) if it isn't a rip off towards the devs to sell a Reaper license. ;) Apart from that, this forum is a selection of users, and the people selling in the market place is a selection of a selection of a selection so to speak. Can't really get much of a general tendency out of that. There were a couple of copies of Studio One 3 sold short after the release, but i would guess that's rather impulse buys ending up as offered used copies here. I don't see many now.

Yep. Reaper is really great and it only requires a certain amount of deeper study to go deeper. It's initial basic workflow is probably more necessity (driven by how flexible it is, the routing and all that) than by design choice. There's only so many ways to present or manage that kind of wide flexibility.

It's more just that every daw thread starts the same perpetual cycle over again where we all say what we like or not and why, yet again, for the 10,000th time. :hihi:

A Reaper license is so cheap it doesn't really have second hand value....I don't use my Reaper Licence but I cant be bothered to try and sell it. The handful of licences bought and sold on this forum probably don't make much of a dent on the many 1000's of licences sold.

Reaper is what it is, functional, perhaps a little utilitarian for some and with that 'homebrew' feel (which can be good and bad). It doesn't have the all fun stuff you get with S1 or Cubase etc. (where you pretty much get all the effects and instruments and samples you may need in a lifetime....); but if you want just the DAW and no frills, it does what it says on the tin, and it does it pretty well.

I used it for a while after I fell out of love with Cubase, but it was S1 that I picked up quickly and was more productive with- workflow just clicked. We have an amazing amount of choice, just use what works for you and your budget!
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Well, of course it is. There's no imperial way to measure the best or easiest to use DAW.

Not to mention, unless things have changed I just didn't realize it, Reaper can only be sold once (unless you're in Europe), and then becomes NFR. Studio One can be sold as many times as people want, and many of the people selling it in the Marketplace are those who PURCHASED it in the Marketplace.

I'm seeing a lot of Cubases in the Marketplace lately, as well (I like all three mentioned).

No idea why anyone would sell a Reaper license second hand, or more accurately, who would even buy one second hand, when it's only $60 and you can use it without ever paying for it anyway.

If someone is really that hard up for money that they need to sell their Reaper license for $20 or something, they probably shouldn't be spending money on musical toys.

Well, why not? People sell games for an Euro on eBay. I was happy to give away my license to someone actually making use of it, when i sold my v3 license here, which had updates up to version 4.99, so you actually get a lot of value there for not even the new price.

I like my S1 here. And I also like Reaper as well. I guess we are just spoiled by now. :hihi:

So what do the users expect? Revolutionary updates in audio editing or midi or workflow?
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

semi-automatic AI mastering ... :) based on reference tracks, then teleporting the song to Beatport top 10

Anything else than total world domination would be a huge disapointment. :D
