More a question for Guitar players. Which guitar library for strumming and solo Guitar?

I have tested RealGuitar and Amplesoft and have listened to Ilya Efimov and the new NI Session Guitar.

NI Session Guitar sounds great but it's very limited because they using recorded phrases for strumming.
RealGuitar sounds a bit thin there is something I don't like.

Amplesound AGM2 sounds great and has dozen of options but how does it compare to Efimov Acoustic or Nylon?

Personally I'm more fond of Orange Tree Samples and Amplesound instead of Ilya's guitar libraries.

Because of the sound or the different/easier handling?

Orange has no pattern/sequencer stuff so the strumming works always manually (using a trigger key on the keyboard?)

First, I have found few strumming setups as easy to use as RealGuitar (I wish I still had it).

NI Session Guitar is great! It is not as limited as it appears. But as you already know you cannot program the strums in a custom way. That having been said, it is the best sounding given its price range to ability ratio. I use it in a lot of scenarios.

Lastly I agree with ED. Orangetree is awesome. The new acoustic engine with strumming is far less convoluted than ever. It still requires some work to get to your strum, but once there it is awesome.

I only use Orangetree and NI now. I do hope there is a Session Pro on the horizon though. Both operate within Kontact's framework and so the workflow is fairly smooth.

Ilya does have a strummer but I have not seen it in action enough to comment.

I have the Efimov nylon strummer, RealGuitar and just got Sunbird.
RealGuitar is great for strumming and Sunbird is very similar + it has a built in step sequencer.
On Efimov nylon I found it quite difficult to get a convincing strumming going so I just left it. Luckily I got it on one of those ridiculous sales for like $9.99 or something like that.

For solo Orangetree does sound like it might give the best sound, but I haven't tried it.

i would also recommend checking out AcousticsampleS Sunbird. it's mind blowingly authentic sounding, and very easy to play. UVI though, so PACE-protected (iLok not mandatory).

Orangetree seems to be a good choice.
Orangetree has also "Strawberry" is it also a Fender (Telecaster?) or a completely different guitar?

OTS does have a strum engine built in.

Strawberry is a Hagstrom Swede guitar, Stratosphere is Stratocaster.

If they did a Tele complete with detune picking I would just freak out...

I love that sound, similar to what Mew gets from their guitar, but I know he switches between Tele and Jag.

Where does Indiginus Strum maker IV rate in this discussion? Compared to say, OTS, is there a primary feature that SM IV lacks, or is it just the sound quality?

Nearly a year later, I'm curious if anyone has additional thoughts about these libraries (some of which have been updated — e.g., RealGuitar *4*).

Based upon previous comments, the favorites tend to be (in no particular order):
- Orangetree
- RealGuitar (was v3, now v4)

How do they compare with:
- Indiginus (which has some amazing demos)

Less-frequently mentioned:
- Efimov
- Pettinhouse

Any new thoughts, regarding (a) the most convincing sound and especially (b) ease of programming?

As all of the instruments here are sample libraries, shouldn't this be in the sample library sub-forum?

The forum descriptions state:

• Instruments: VST, AU, etc. plug-in Virtual Instruments discussion
• Samplers, Sampling & Sample Libraries: Sampler and Sampling discussion (techniques, tips and tricks, etc.)

Since these are Kontakt libraries and since Kontakt is both a virtual instrument and a sampler, this discussion technically fits within either category. Does it really matter?

Back on topic: Would love to hear anyone's new thoughts on these guitar libraries!

No need to be so dismissive , it's not an objection to a mere technicality. It does matter actually in that, because 99% of Kontakt library discussions here take place in the sampling forum, that is where people would expect to look for them. It's not all about you, who's already found it. It's a find-ability thing ... you know... other people. Remember them? Tr
