What's up with these applications not supporting iPad 4. First it was Korg ids-10 now iSpark. :x

Post

64bit support Im guessing

besides if the app would run like crap, maybe they dont want to list it as supported

Post

Uses the desktop engine. And 64bit. hence the lack of support for older iPads. The price of progress...

Post

Curses it won't run on my iPad 1 either. ;)

It was discontinued back in October, 2014.

And for Apple that is ages ago, so why bother supporting it still?

All very good points that make a lot of sense. I guess I'll have to get used to it lol. Still bummed though, but not enough to get a new iPad just yet.

I got this and it is without a doubt the first iOS music software that for me is actually useful. I am extremely impressed. I don't know how the experience is on its own, but I have the Spark LE and it is just amazing. If you do have the Spark LE, do not hesitate, get this app!

I have been on iPad since the launch of the iPad 1, and I have tried all the major players in iOS music apps.... (BM2, Nano Studio....etc..... And to me the synths on iOS are great, but the sequencers were really not very useful. This is very useful..... With the Spark LE controller it is the real, full on, experience. I actually like it better than using Spark on the PC.

So if you have the Spark 2 plug-in with the modular synthesis engine, can you set up modular presets there and then import them to iSpark with your own custom macro controls and everything? That would be pretty cool.

That's what they claim:
"Possibility to share projects, kits and instruments between iSpark and the desktop version of Spark 2."

Reading the docs, it says iSpark can import/export .ispk files. I don't know if the Spark 2 software has been updated yet with support for .ispk files.

There are some sounds with the "Engine" type of "Analog" that come with iSpark but you have no way to edit the preset outside of the standard knob params.

I noticed that REX support is missing. :(

Overall it's pretty cool.

Even though you cannot modulate sample start/end points, each sound can be made up of 6 layers and you can even have velocity control which layer to play in one of the modes. That's very useful for throwing multiple fx/vocal sound onto one pad.

edit: Woo! 100th post since 2000!

No sync at all? Oh.

I looked on some other forums and the iSpark developer mentioned that Spark 2 would be updated to import/export files with iSpark. Also, he stated that they are interested in adding the modular functionality of Spark 2 to iSpark in a future update!

This app is very impressive. I am not aware of a more comprehensive solution for sample-based drum apps. The effects, the sequencer, the sample options, the automation tools, the interface, etc. are all great and then they are going to add a modular drum synth? Wow.

Because 4th gen and down is 50% of the market?
And, it's a drum machine.

I know that. So?
