I just had this chain going;

Cthulhu>Cthulhu>Obscurium>Obscurium>Oatmeal

Really amazing plugin.
Obviously, not everyones cup of tulips, but it is definitely a powerful thing.
It will probably take me a decade to really control it. :)

So why is Obscurium (or any other SugarBytes VSTi synth) not among the best 50 plugin synths in the world today? :?

Loaded fine for me. Part of the link is missing in your reply.

OK, so we have got the link fixed, but the question still remains, even with a working link Obscurium is not among the 50 best synth plugs in the world today.

Is it all down to not advertising at Music Radar (i.e. CM/FM) ?

Good question. It may not be on Music Radar's top 50 but it's on my top 20.

"Regular" VA plugs like Minimonsta, Ana and Monark are plentiful in that list.

IMO plugs that think outside the box, like Obscurium, should have a place there too.

I'm curious if anyone has used ACE or Bazile inside this to control parameters.

..sssh, do not talk about Obscurium.... It's a secret weapon of mine.

What Obscurium? I don't see no Obscurium.

pssst ksandvik. I think they fell for it..

Excellent question, Numanoid, and one that I can't answer myself. :?
While unfortunately I'm currently (temporarily) without any Sugar Bytes plugins in my VST folder (due to selling all of them recently for financial reasons), I love every single piece of software they've released. An extremely underappreciated developer who always seems to outdo themselves with each new release.

For "controlled" Obscurium fun with Live, I've been getting giggles recording a morphed loop, then slicing to midi in Live, and just playing the pieces in a drum rack. For best results, slow BPM and something with transients. :hyper:

The developer would gain yet new users if he mentioned that it is 64-bit in the KVR product page. People using the search tool for new ideas of purchase probably miss it if they use Windows 64-bit or OSX 64-bit as criteria.

Edit: I just alerted him of the lack of this mentions. He will probably add it in the next days.

This is one difficult beast to understand, but the patches sound amazing, hopefully I will manage to make some of my own one day.

As with all Sugar Bytes plugs I have, I am amazed how they manage to cram so much into them and keep the CPU hit so low.

Playing a patch in Obscurium is like looking at a light show, but CPU hit stays below 20%
