Hi,
just checked out the Ableton Demo, killer application...
One of the coolest effects - at least for me - is the "scale midi effect" which shifts incoming notes onto musical scales.
Is there something similar in Cubase SX? I guess the transformer could do it but i don't think i could program such logical presets myself...

there this MFX plug you can use in Cubase or Nuendo:
http://www.nicolasfournel.com/midi.htm
"scaleEnforcer [ MFX plug-in - MIDI programming ]
scaleEnforcer is a MIDI effect plug-in (MFX). It ensures that all the notes in the selected track are in the scale you have chosen (you can select a scale among 269, and its key). The notes which are not in the scale can either be removed or fixed. scaleEnforcer works off-line on a MIDI clip, in real-time as an effect insert, or even on live MIDI input. "
hope that helps.....

There's also the built-in Input Transformer (SX 2...dunno about SX 1).
Just set..
Mode=Transform
Filter Target...
Type is | Equal | Note
Action Target...
Value 1 | Transpose to Scale | C | Major (or whatever!)
Don't forget to activate the module!
