Hi everyone.
I just bought loaded Dell (17 latest gen, Win10 Pro 16 gigs ram, C:\ 512G SSD, D:| 2 TB 7200rpm (more stuff too)
There is nothing in it so far. I want to store my plugins in my D drive and my hosts / daws / hosts in my C drive.
Will this create registry / path issues?

Should be fine. I run the same setup (c=ssd, d=hd). Most of my VSTs are installed on 'd' and a few (like UAD) on 'c'.
The only problem you have is persuading Windows not to put your default user dir on 'c' (for downloads etc).

Oddly I set that up on my boot and it still doesn't want to obey (downloads and Docs still go to C: instead of D)
Thanks.
Thanks.

You dont say what youve actually done, so without knowing that, its hard to do more than point out that there's a bit of a difference between putting stuff on a different drive and moving your home directory.tapper mike wrote:Oddly I set that up on my boot and it still doesn't want to obey (downloads and Docs still go to C: instead of D)

(relocating a user's home directory wont work while the user is logged in, btw; generally I'd create a second user and do it from that)
An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

Document folders: right-click, Properties, Location tab. Click move and put it elsewhere. You'll still get some odds and ends in the original place though.tapper mike wrote:Oddly I set that up on my boot and it still doesn't want to obey (downloads and Docs still go to C: instead of D)

Downloads should be settable from your browser settings. E.g: in W10 and Firefox; Tools, Options, General: Downloads folder can be changed halfway up or down the page. Chrome dunno, Edge who cares?
