Can I also make some 'default value' suggestions?

- Filter Frequency: maximum (fully right) - currently 50%
- Oscillator levels: 50% - currently 100%
- all modulations source amounts: 0 - currently 50%

And just had another crash moving the Wave knob:

Last one for tonight..

I don't know if I'm being completely dumb, but there is some strange GUI behaviour in the Sequencer window when looking at single lines (SNGL). If I make a change to any parameter from Position, Velocity, Gate and both Mods, it seems that ALL patterns reflect the same change. I've restarted and all that shenanigans, but no change. This can't be expected behaviour?

HellOo Cinningbao,

Could you please remind me your host/OS etc.

Atm we cant replicate any of these issues, and we have no other similar reports. So, based on Alphonso case, may I suggest that you completely uninstall StiX, then reinstall it, and install it both 32b and 64b versions at least.( If you have made some presets, be carefull to export them before) Then see if all of this is solved, or not.

LFO as sources in the macro matrix, typos : Are already implemented in my version, but will be only available in the next public version : Be patient :)

Hi Loz,

I'm on OSX 10.11.3 (this is in the crash reports). I already completely uninstalled StiX (32+64bit are wrapped up in one VST, correct?) both AU and VST (assuming OSX uninstall is simply moving the .VST and AU files to the trash) before running again last night before I hit those other crashes.

Are there other libraries/files which should be removed as well prior to complete reinstall?

Post

I had a Trojan error from windows defender when installing StiX - see attached.

Thanks for the report SliC.

Well, it's certainly a false positive. StiX has no trojan, or other virus.
I think that just deactivating your AV while you install StiX will do.

Thanks. I'll ask our Mac specialist and report here.

Could i please have a description of the assignment for the 109 parameters in the ControlMIDI file?
Instead of doin' the long work inside StiX options menu i'd instead generate programmatically (maybe with simple C) another ControlMIDI file and then i'm thinkin of doin' a MIDI VST with 10 banks of 109 CC generating parameters with the proper names of the real Stix parameters (may be using Juce or WD-OL iPlug frameworks). It can be a simple GUI less VST or a tabbed one with a MIDI channel for every tab.
BTW i guess not all the 109 parameters are relevant for single drum pads. I guess things like "Sequencer Start" are global.
Little help needed :-)
thanks!
a.
Yes, only Eazy Edit page (Macro knobs, velocity macros, polystep assigns etc) and all Advanced Edit page parameters are chanellized (ie per drumsound)

All other parameters are global (effects, mixer, play/stop etc )

I think a tabbed will do better, -due to the number of parameters- but anyway it's interesting. Hope you'll consider sharing it with other users if you achieve this :)

When i'll have ready i'll do it for sure!
Another question, i can't finde a way to modulate Sample start via Velocity. This is very important to "soften" a little bit soft hits. And even a "Phase" parameter for the oscillators could be really useful for sound design.

I was very excited to try a new old school VA drum machine,
I have been making afro beats on a real TR-808 in the eighties,
but my heaven machine for music production is still on Windows XP, with lots of DAWs and audio tools.
StiX installed fine on that but the GUI crashes as soon as I try to open it, so I assume it's not XP compatible right?

[edit] later I was able to open it in the old Chainer host, it plays!
but many buttons of the toolbar still crashes the GUI
Hi Liqih,
Normally it is compatible with XP systems.(At least whe have some XP systems where it runs fine) It might be worth reinstalling StiX with different settings (Like : Did you install the 64b versions, or not, then try different hosts)

- the LFOs are not yet available in the MacroModulation grid as sources
- and (sorry if this is getting a little too OCD) in the MacroModulation target menus, it says Filters when, really there is only one filter in the chain. (unless more are planned! ;) ) - Filter
- in the Filters submenu, you could then change the rather cryptic-looking FiltFr (which sometimes looks like FiltEr) to just Frequency, Resonance and Drive

Addicted to it, again, tonight...

Maybe I should enter the comp - is there a chance I could win that lovely modular thingy? or V+ would be sweet
* LFO will be there in next version in the Macro Mod
* Typos Filters is now Filter
* But we decided for 'F-Freq' instead of just 'Freq' like you suggested for this parameter. Why ? With your suggestion, when you choose the mod target, you see Filter --> Freq in the tree. So it's obvious *at this moment* that 'Freq' belongs to the Filter subtree parameters. But once it's selected, you would just see 'Freq'. Wich is inconsistent against 'VCO1 Freq' for example. So, it will be 'F-Freq'. I think it's coherent.

As for the comp, yes, take your chance. You can't loose anything. Except maybe a bit of time ( but you'll still benefit of the work done with StiX)

No there's no way to modulate sample start by velocity (nor other parameter). If you want to soften the attack, I'd suggest just using the EVs attack segment parameter, it's calibrated so that you can very precisely shape the attack of the sound, and easily get rid of a clic in the beginning of a sample for example, while preserving it's 'punch'. Then modulate this segment by velo in the matrix. If you want to just soften only the 3rd oscillator as 'sample', you can use one of the macro mods, and control it's volume with one of the 3 EVs generators OR one LFO ( in the next version, LFOs we be present in all Matrixes ) LFO can be interesting to control the volume of oscillators, because not only do they offer a lot of different shapes, but they also have that Delay parameter that can make wonders for double attacks, slightly delayed attack etc.

Then, in the next version, you'll see that we have added a Duo of new features that will add a LOT to StiX.( and in certain cases, can be related to 'how to soften attacks' )

Is it possible to get a refund if I contact Xils? I was hoping the sequencer would be more useful for my workflow, but unfortunately it's not looking like that's going to happen. Is it possible for them to tell I haven't activated the elicenser code they sent me? I'm still using the beta license. Hopefully that might help convince them?

I dont think so. The demo version allows everybody to fully test it before purchasing, and therefore make an informed decision. Then, you can contact them via the site utility and see.
