Plugins In Live? WTF?

I just installed Live and I can't figure out how to make Live show ALL of my VST's. In the "Preferences" window it appears to only allow me to tell Live to look for and scan only one folder and one path?

How do I instruct Live to scan and look for plugins at multiple paths and in different folders?

Open preferences.
Choose the "File Folder" tab.
Go to the very last option on that page.... VST Plug-In Custom Folder

Select "Browse"

Selecting the VST folder will add that to your available locations for VST plugins.

Assuming you are highmarcs (exact same wording and question) I answered you over at Ableton Forums.

In Windows I created a folder called VSTPaths. Inside I made shortcuts to all of my VST folders. Then I pointed Ableton Live to the VSTPaths folder. It found the shortcuts to all the folders and included all of my plugins.

Live doesn't have a built-in bit-bridge, so you can only use 64-bit plugins in the 64-bit version and 32-bit plugins in the 32-bit version, unless you're using a third party bit-bridge like JBridge.

That makes sense now! I'm used to being able to pick whatever I want in Reaper. They must have it built in. Thanks!

Ah... Ok. I guess Cubase has me spoiled. It has a built in bit bridge an finds all of my plugins. I guess I just assumed all major DAW's would have this by now.

Well it lacked details. I think sometimes folks subconsciously think we are peering over their shoulders as they run into issues. Oh well.

I find it amazing that with simple searches most of the problems posted can be easily solved.

I have one folder called plugins and put a folder for each plugin maker inside it. During plugin install I tell the install to put the dll file in there.
