Can you tell us what's the difference between this set and the set with exactly the same name you released in 2014? I'm confused. Has this just been "guru'ed" ?

Post

i'm curious too.
My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Unify = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

Post

And if it's the same with "Skippy" magic added, is there a planned upgrade path/discount for current owners?

Post

I suppose we'll get an answer when it's time for a bump for sales. Soundware is an awful subforum.

I like that Skippy is not afraid of using cheesy cover design... :D

Skippy wanted to redo the collection- focused on swirly motion pads. I had to recraft my sounds and make new ones. He also included new sounds and went through and did his magic on everything. Patches were overhauled. We are running a 1 week intro price as well.

I actually spent more hours on this pack then my original version 1. There is a 1 week discount running right now.

Sorry, I have been actually working to 2-4am every day to keep up with the new release and the expectations. I haven't been able to come back and update due to that (my poor wife and kids!!!!). I agree- odd subforum but it is what it is.
Thanks for your support too!!!

I actually wanted to go with that fantasy look he brought with MegaMagic Pads. A composite artist from Europe was hired to create this. It's a nice departure from my previous artwork and is something my 2 girls just love. To me- that is what matters more- my girls love this and are product of product I came out with. Wait till you see the extra vids and music demos coming!!!

What will the normal price be for this library after the intro period?
My progressive rock band - free demos here!! (and if you do listen please let me know what you think!) http://www.aeonsatori.com/news/free-downloads

I still don't understand. Are these same patches tweaked or not ? Clearly there's no upgrade path for original NL buyers so that implies they're different. But then why the same name then? Would this be a useless double-up for original buyers? Seems weird.

I have tried to compare the two libraries but unfortunately a lot of information about the original Northern Lights has been removed.

But from what I can see:

Northern Lights:
289 patches, 113 multis
Size: 35.7 MB
Regular price: $35 (no longer available)
https://sellfy.com/p/87a3/

Northern Lights for Omnisphere 2.1:
166 patches, 92 multis
Size: 37 MB
Intro price: $25 (till March 1st)
Regular Price: $35
http://pluginguru.com/guru-products/nor ... nisphere-2

"The new version if for Omnisphere 2 and has been refined (less patches) but with new sounds, new multis, custom samples, and PlugInGuru's mastering all over it. It has a new product." https://sellfy.com/p/87a3/

Ok so when you put the two side-by-side, it looks like the same library pretty much. Just rebranded.

A couple of concerns I have:

1. There is no upgrade price for owners of the original Northern Lights. So you would essentially be buying the library again (paying twice).

2. There is no "legacy patches" folder. So you would need to keep the old Northern Lights installed alongside the new one. This would be confusing as to which "Northern Lights" library has the preset you are looking for. Also, there would likely be some duplication of patches between the two.

There needs to be a way for existing Northern Lights owners to upgrade.
