Does anyone know if it's possible to play a MIDI file in Windows media player and get the MIDI data out to an external sound module..?
I want to audition a bunch of MIDI files quickly and I don't like the soundcard's GM sounds, so I want to use a Yamaha QY70 which has excellent sounds.
Of course, I can use my host program to do this, but it takes too long for each file. Win media player is much faster.
Any ideas..?
Midi out from media player..?

In XP:
control panel->sounds and audio devices->audio->midi playback->change default device to your midi port
You can do this in a similar way in windows 98/2000 as well.
