I used to hold on to all the very least that I had back in the day, eleven years ago. I made this thread, listened to this song end on end.
I still do, so many years later. Some things never change. Me holding on to existence in particular.

I always though "minimalism" was a weird name for a movement that was so maximalist in adherence to its principles! I find a lot to like in Reich, Glass & Bryars (on occasion) but Riley is the one who actually took/takes the listener's poor ears into account.Ed A. wrote:Philip Glass really took us for suckers back in the day. I can't believe I used to love listening to that minimalist bullshit.

What Fassbinder film is it?
The one-armed man walks into a flower shop
And says: What flower expresses
Days go by
And they just keep going by endlessly
Pulling you Into the future
Days go by
Endlessly
Endlessly pulling you
Into the future?
And the florist says: White Lily

Minimalism isn't bullshit - it's just Glass who's highly overrated. A bit like Zimmer in movie ST's. Just because their music is highly generic, empty rubbish doesn't mean the genre/movement is.Ed A. wrote:Philip Glass really took us for suckers back in the day.
