Sonar ACT or Novation Automap

I have Sonar Professional DAW and just got a Novation Impulse controller keyboard.
I want to use the controllers transport keys, faders, knobs, etc.
Sonar has ACT for mapping controls to software.
Novation has Automap, which is "supposed" to be easy.

Should I attempt to use Automap, or simply work with the new Sonar ACT mapping ???

Why not set up both and see which one you prefer?

ACT advantage - Native in Sonar
Disadvantage - a bit snarkly to set up.

Automap advantage - made for Novation.
Disadvantage - runs in the background eating resources.

I think you can use both to control VST's (I know so with Automap. Caveat - has to create wrapped versions of the VST's. This is not always ideal since it adds another element of "what went wrong?". Haven't tried controlling VST's with ACT so can't say what takes place.)

First thing I will suggest though is RTM and find instruction vids on Youtube. Essential to understand both programs. Once you get the hang of it they're not that hard to understand.

I hate automap. Everything about it. I use ACT whenever possible.

I tried to like ACT for years. Found it ungodly frustrating and a waste of time to bother. I just midi learn knobs which is easier and simpler - no big deal. ACt works best if you use all SONAR plugs.
