Melodyne 4 Essential is not just for vocals anymore, allowing you to transpose and quantize polyphonic, harmonic instruments and features vastly improved tempo detection, mapping, and extraction.
Essential works with polyphonic material? I didn't realise that had changed.

Someone on Gearslutz said you get melodyne 4 with the update but I don't see any way to do that. Does anyone know for sure about this?

Only in that you can move blobs left, right, up and down, but you don't get the polyphonic material separated out into separate notes. You need to have Melodyne Editor for that.

And if so, how do you get it? I'm still on 2.1.2 within Studio One 3.2

You noticed a problem with the internet: everyone can write bullshit.

I got a free update to Melodyne 4 from 3 Essential but you need to do this from your Melodyne account, I don't think it comes with S1 3.2

yea just tried doing the update since I was still back at v2. Looks like celemony's site went down during download though, cant get to any of their pages anymore

That kind of thing was entirely possible with VST2;
So why (for example) Steven Slate did not utilize this in VCC? As far as i know there was big and long debate and why his plugs aren't "talking" one to each other? There's grouping and so on but not processing in that deep level Presonus is talking about.

And why Waves didn't do it in their NLS console plugin if it is so easy? No they did not instead of that you have to choose each channel from respective menu in order to emulate full console and even then Waves plugs loaded on each channel arent talking to each other.

Maybe there is some sort of channel "sense" in VST SDK but maybe not entirely up to developer demand.

EDIT: Few days ago developer announced another variation of this "console" and you can precisely see he is talking about not being able to make loaded instances stream data to another instances

Not tryin to defend anyone here..

edit: btw i really like what i hear here: yes it is louder but sound definitely get some sort of space and dimension. Really like it.

Can anyone explain me (never used Studio one) why dude in video have master level going far above zero and in to red...like +9db...

Why would anyone want channels 'talking to each other?' I'm not even sure what that means, or how it would be useful.

You never used real console did you?

If you are that persistent and acting as you have never heard for this - no it does not mean channels are talking to each other it is just a sentence.

But it means (under channel talking one to another) that one channel can affect another depending on various variables. It does happen in real console and sometimes people (quite often actually) talk about this as a "character" in particular console.

There was specific debate about this few days ago upon (yet another) console emu where developer and people talked about channel affecting another channel (search crosstalk thing in thread)

AFAIK this is what Presonus is after for...and all other plugin makers.

yea.. it's one of those "vibe" things..

To me, working on an analog mixer definitely sounds different. I mean.. there are sooooooo many imperfect electrical components working together in a mixer, of course they are going to have their own character. Really high end consoles cost so much money because they are trying to minimize the color/ make it a more pleasing color. It's very similar to analog synths vs. digital. I like the idea of emulating analog mixers, but it seems to be one of those things where the closer you get to accuracy, the more diminishing returns you get on processing power. Not sure if we will ever get that extra bit of magic dust in digital.

Like somebody here said, this update seems to be mostly directed at PT users. It kinda ticks a lot of the boxes that PT users complained about when trying it... although... I'm sure some of them will just make a brand new list now.

Well, damn. On the off chance, I went to Celemony and for some reason unknown to me, I get a free update to Melodyne 4. I'm not really sure why but I'm not asking questions...

are there any improvements concerning the midi Editor....or are the improvements focussed on Audio?
