You don't have to drag it onto a send. Set up some tracks then send them to a bus. Maximize the bus channel in the console so that you can see the sends and inserts. Above the inserts you should see the words 'Mix FX'. Click the drop-down menu to the right of that to bring up the Console Shaper. If you look at the top of the Master channel you'll see the same thing.

It only works on busses (not FX busses though), no need to drag and drop, it's already listed in a drop down at the top of group bus channels and the master bus and all of the sub outs. Honestly, I'm not sure why it evens lists in the browser except just to know it's installed, and I guess to also maybe hide some of them later when there's more than one.
If you don't really hear anything you probably need to feed it hotter levela, at lowish levels the effect is quite subtle. Put a spectrum meter on the channels to also see what it's doing, and at what levels, the harmonics and noise and distortion and similar.

That would be a possible route too, but Im kinda unsure whether it'd work in as many DAWs. You need multi-input and multi-output support for effects plugins in the DAW, and perhaps fully flexible routing as well to make the best of it.jens wrote:But just a question: why would you want to spread something like that across tracks like that? Would no something like Mux serve you better for this?
One thing Ive noticed with using Bidule is that some hosts dont necessarily let you access all the inputs of a multi-input plugin (eg Live only seems to let you use the first eight). And (a version of) Bidule offers the most inputs of any plugin I'm aware of at 32, but that's still 'only' 16 stereo channels.
As I said before, I think the 'new' thing here isnt quite where the plugin 'sits' in the audio chain, as there are alternative ways of achieving the same end result. I suspect its actually the way the DAW will instantiate and route this through groups etc 'automatically', and to be honest, I think that that is something other hosts can replicate (I was only slightly joking when i said i expected Cakewalk Prochannel and/or Reaper's to get enhanced to do something similar Real Soon Now). The question is whether they would try and replicate it.
What other hosts would also need to implement, though, is a consistent way of instantiating it for any number of channels, each through an instance of 'something' that shares data somehow. I think, and I could be wrong, that the intra-instance-communication thing scales better (ie open-endedly and dynamically) than a multi-input/multi-output thing.
Of course that's just me piling speculation on speculation. But its how I would think about implementing it, if someone said 'so how could it be done?'

Yes, I have all of that stuff permanently disabled here. Soundcloud, Rewire, Quicktime support, whatever else between that screen and the extension screen that I never use. It also speeds up boot time a bit.aMUSEd wrote:Advanced settings - you can actually remove quite a lot of things to help speed it up a bit - eg several types of hardware support are generally not needed.
I mean, if you aren't using Presonus hardware or whatever else there's no real point in always loading a service for it. If you aren't using WiFi remotes or iPad apps, turn off the UCNet service, etc. I think you can also disable all of the cloud services.

I don't care about the console emulation. The tool updates are welcome. Not going to do any more work in S1 until they allow copying of tracks from one place to another. Bitwig does it with drag and drop. Tracktion does it with cut-and-paste, Protools and Cubase do it with an import dialogue. Let's hope it's in the next round of basic functionality updates for S1.
Recently switched from S1 to Cubase. Liking it so far. With track disabling I can load all my favorite Kontakt instruments into one template without needing a very powerful rig.

Seems to be this go-round, yes. 3.0 was more EDM or similar, macro knobs, new instruments that allow modulating all kinds of things, arps and all that, etc, etc. This one seems to be more audio editing and mixing, but there's always some overlap.mholloway wrote:
Seems like the focus / target audience with all this stuff is (perhaps unsurprisingly) the old-school hardware studio crowd.
I hope that cycle continues, taking care of different user groups a little along the way at different times, given that you can never please every group at the same time.

Nice free update. Some decent improvements...
Not revolutionary of course, but then you'd have to be fool to buy into the hype.
I won't be switching to cubase any time soon.

Well, I don't know about the Pro version, but I see in the Artist mixer the VCA channel, which is a nice addition to the mixer. I don't know what are the other new things though.
It didn't see Reaktor 6 player though
so, I'm stuck with Reaktor 5 if I want to use Artist. Anyway, there is something new but very annoying! It is this floating channel when I add Audio channel! What's this? Is it a feature or a bug? How can I get rid of it?

Oh, it seems some kind of glitch! I clicked "Impact", then from this floating channel (which changed to Impact) I clicked on Impact, so Impact instrument appeared and the channel disappeared!
Anyway, I tried to reproduce it again but I couldn't!

This is a very unexpected reply, can you explain a bit more ?aMUSEd wrote:tbh I haven't had a single crash with it since I removed VST2 support.
I.e. how did you come to this performance, because of specific plugin(s) causing issues ?
To disable unneeded features speeds up few things a little but frankly, above surprised me.

@Engee: Is that Artist or Prime? That's normally the channel editor, that floating window. No idea if the channel editor is supposed to be in Artist or not, looks like probably not because the buttons for it aren't there on the channels, and that window looks cropped. In Pro you'd see the macro knobs there, and a button to the extended fx chain routing.
Looks like Artist tried to open a feature it doesn't have.

I like the Artist version really! It loads very fast and because I have Reaktor synths and my blofeld I feel they are more than enough. It is very stable and with a very good performance as well. I thought to sell it, but no, it is a good for minimalism
Anyway, I don't think I will upgrade again to the Pro. I don't need it

I just checked the updated comparison chart here...
http://studioone.presonus.com/compare-versions
... and according to that chart, Artist doesn't have VCA's or The Channel Editor. So if you have VCA's you might wanna keep that on the down low and stash that installer somewhere safe.

Oh!!!
I have it! Maybe I should not update again, or keep this version setup file somewhere safe!
