midWays:
several instances of rhino, microTera, albino, microTonic, energyXT for envelope control/animation

green Three
rhino2, Tera2, albino, Absynth
D, Cm, Cm7 off to Gm etc.

any comments/feedback welcome.

and that puts just about every tune in the project folder in a finished enough state, that I plan to back it up and clean it out this weekend. Then I can clean up the vst folder for just the new version of rhino and remove whatever's underused since picking up Komplete 2.

where's the love

1) do these just suck and nobody wants to b ethr first to crush my delusion?
or
2) it's too inconvenient or evidence of a lack of serious commitment without a direct link?
or
3) i haven't earned enough kvr web cred yet?

Soundclick seems to be unavailable... or you typed the URL wrong.

yup, soundclick is down.

and don't assume in just 8 hours if you don't get a reply no one likes it.

the many uses of silence

never occured to me that soundclick would be down, though it was down much of Saturday as well. arggh.

this could go far to explain why I'm getting more play at download.com despite the more restrictive nature of their template and the advertisd higher traffic levels at soundclick

i'll check next time.
really takes the wind off the sails
stay up late, getting things uploaded just to find out the site is down the next day.

midways - A cool hammocky and lazy feel about this. Quite enjoyable with a good bass although it usurps quite a lot of energy.

Green trees - I think you need to be careful with those huge pads as in this track they are so rich they are pushing away (muddifying) the bass.

For both tracks I'd say try some various eq settings so that all elements can find their place within the song better. Balancing and mixing is one of the harder parts of composing. Musicwise quite enjoyed, and the panning on Green trees is very interesting; especially in those rich pads.

soundclicks back.

green three - like the A section bassline alot and like the progression. Overall choices with sounds are pretty tasty. imo the resonant percussion dominates a bit too much though; something softer would fit maybe a bit better. Some sort of solo or more busy melody might also have been a nice touch... Still a great track. :D

oh and btw I heard some glitches or clips on the right channel.. Might want to have a look in a wav editor.

midways - tbh I didn't really like this one. the progression is really meandering and the percussion is too loud again..(what speakers/phones do you mix with?) Some of the pads seem to be clashing a bit as well (microtonal one clashes with everything)

thanks for the comments

don't give me any credit for panning that's usually built in to the presets and enhanced by the animation energyXT's envelope control provides

these are mixed on headphones and I know there's usually a problem with that. my ears tend to auto- compensate for loud short hit percussion.

i usually remix a few times once i cut a CD and play it on the big stereo.

i really haven't picked up on the eq to every track skill yet. Using Project 5 I tend to run out of cpu power before I get there. But I've picked up Sonar 3 now and it's built in per track.

so the basic eq tip is allocating separate spectrum for each part?

Thats the idea, but its pretty hard to do that - especially in large projects. But you can start by hipassing every track other than your bass and kick. Start at 100hz or so and move the hipass up until the track starts to sound 'thin', then move it back down a bit. Most pads, leads etc. don't need much bass freqs.
