I'm gutted, it used to work. I tried installing Steinbergs asio server so I could use more than one audio app simultaneously, but it didn't work. I uninstalled it and minihost loads (with the last used VST) but when I change VST's it crashes with minihost has stopped working error.

I tried a fresh copy of it in another directory, and it loads other vst's but I get no sound from that version.

All my other software works fine, I'm running Windows 8 on a 64 bit PC.

Assuming your talking about Tobybear minihost not Image-Line Minihost Modular then:

In your original minihost folder you will find these files;

MiniHost.ini
MiniHost.log

If you delete these it will be as a clean Install, The problem may have been with your last loaded vst. You will be free to select your asio driver from the asio tab. Bear in mind you will lose all preferences in your old setup.

Thanks for your quick reply, I just tried that and it does the same as a fresh install, ie works ok but no sound output. The bars are showing as if it is playing a sound, but nothing. Then I checked the control panel for asio4all and disabled HD Audio Digital Out, which was set and chose VIA HD Audio Output 2 (don't know how it got set to digital out), and all is well again.

So there must have been something in the ini file causing it to bug out, but what I don't know.

Cantabile can do everything minihost can and more even patch management and reordering, etc. The free version is better than minihost and is on Cantabile's site here: http://download.cantabilesoftware.com/C ... 2Setup.exe

Version 1.x

Cantabile 1.x is not longer supported nor recommended. Also it's only available as an x86 build and licensing requirements for the full edition have been remove (ie: license no longer necessary).

I might give that a go, I actually use Cantabile v2 solo. I might give v1 a go, the problem with Cantabile is it remembers every vst you load. I like minihost to quickly try out some of the freebie VST's before I add them proper.

Please help fix minihost for me
