If you have single-track percussion MIDI file that you would like to import into RapidComposer, there exists a tool you can use to split the single percussion track into multiple tracks and then re-save the MIDI file. The tool is called MidiSplit and can be downloaded from the author's web page. Unfortunately for OS X users, it is a Windows-only program.

After importing the multitrack drums MIDI file into Rapid Composer, you will still have to perform the arduous process of setting the Track Hints, Instrument, Preset, and Channel for each and every drum track, but at least the tool has taken care of the grunt work of splitting out the drum sounds for you.

Good suggestion, Tonedef, thank you!

Editing percussion tracks (and percussion phrases involving several drum sounds) will be added shortly.
Unfortunately redesigning the browsers took more time than expected, v2.8 will arrive in about 2 weeks, before Christmas. However the new engine is prepared for sharing phrases on the net, and using other people's shared phrases, and is extremely flexible.

Thanks!

I just came to realize that the author of MidiSplit is no longer sharing the utility from his latest web site. This Windows-only utility can instead be downloaded from here.

I am also attaching to this thread a .ZIP of MidiSplit 1.0 (it is small enough to attach).
