Hi Thomas,

Oh wait, there is a setting in RapidComposer that is wrongly set. Please open the RC standalone application, and navigate to Settings / Locations. You can tell the VST plug-in which RapidComposer application executable it should run and connect to. I think you have set the path to the Ableton Live application, which is wrong. The default setting "Use this application" is usually sufficient.

Please let me know.
Thanks,
Attila

Dear Attila,

ah, ok. I set the location right now, and it does, indeed, not open up the old Ableton version anymore. But instead, it's doing nothing at all! Look:

This is the usual picture that I am getting. I suppose, I am expected to klick on that half-visible box that says "Bring Rapid Composer on top". But there nothing happens after I klick.

uhmm..
did "Adjust Note Lengths" variation removed?

Is there a way to create an arpeggio that only contains a selectable number of octaves of the root note of the chord, as well as octaves of the bass note of the chord?

The following mock-up demonstrates for a C chord, or any other chord with C in the bass:

I did try playing around with Phrase Variations (e.g. "Remove Note", "Simplifiy Phrase"; etc.) along with features of other generators but could not accomplish what I wanted to (without just manually editing a rendered phrase).

If this cannot be easily done with the current feature set of RC, perhaps what is needed is a new Phrase Variation and/or a new option to the Arpeggiator similar to the following mock-up (I adapted the Note Usage setting from the Bass Generator; "Use All Chord Notes" would be the default setting to preserve the normal behavior):

Hi Attila
I think a usefull feature is, if it is possible to record rythm patterns on top of a generator with a midi keyboard too

Hi Tony,

thanks for the mock-ups. Right, this is badly needed.
I have to think how to add flexible note usage settings, e.g. you should be able to use root note and fifth only. This has to be implemented before v3.0 comes out.

Thanks,
Attila

I found in the latest version of FL Studio and RapidComposer, note emission does not appear to work. Furthermore the internal sequencer of RapidComposer appears to be getting jammed. This situation doesn't exist in Bidule or Reaper.
  • Start FL Studio (v12.2, build 3, signature bundle, 64-bit)
  • Create a Patcher generator track.
  • Put RapidComposer (64-bit, v3.0b14) within this patcher.
  • Put some phrases in to RapidComposer
  • Sub-bug A
    • Turn on the local sequencer.
    • Press play.
    • Notice the timer continually flickers between 1.1.00 and 1.2.00 bars.
  • Sub-bug B
    • Right clicking on Local SEQ will toggle all of the transport buttons on/off, without reporting local sequencer as active.
  • Activate the MIDI 0 outlet of patcher, and connect RC's port to MIDI 0.
  • Play using FL Studio's transport.
  • Observe that RapidComposer's transport is moving, yet no notes are being emitted.
  • Arrows in Patcher windows move when notes are being output from a plugin.
  • Stop the FL Studio transport.
  • Create a second patcher.
  • Activate MIDI In 0 for Patcher #2.
  • Place a sound generating plugin within patcher 2.
  • Connect MIDI In 0 to the plugin.
  • Play using FL Studio's transport (again.)
  • Observe that no notes are leaving RC, entering midi 0, coming back from midi 0, or going thorugh a plugin (ex. boobass or 3xOSC.)

Hi Attila, I read that some do not like beta Versions, but i like test new. So if you have some new, please release. if much new features come together in later beta it is harder to find problems. important i think is that preview phrase with unmutet tracks in generators work ok, and do not trash version number(top of phrase x/x number),remember video i send). so i wait for new, because i lost often nice phraces. its also ok for me, that history can disable in that way, that apply to selection does not increase version number until it work.

For later, maybe a keyshortcut for preview phrase with unmutet tracks in generators can add.
If it is possible to add midi keyboard for preview phrase of current track in generators, that play current track at root note depend on midi key is press in keyboard. so can test how phrases sound in diffrent note high easy

I'm not completely familiar with FL Studio so may be off base here; however, the most common mistake made is routing.
I wonder if you have told RC which port/channel to transmit MIDI notes on and if you have told Patcher which port/channel to receive on.

It appears you have told Patcher to receive on MIDI 0 ("Activate MIDI In 0 for Patcher #2"), but have you instructed RC to send via MIDI 0?

Can you post a pic of the RC track dialog? Right click on the left side of the track to bring up the track dialog.

Are you using RC as vst or in stand alone mode?

Hi Skrylar,
thank you for the detailed description and screenshot :tu: . I'll check what goes wrong with RC shortly. I don't remember if RapidComposer had any issues with FL Studio in the past.

Thank you!
Attila
