Looking forward to trying out the new filter for the Drop. Will the Ableton filters get the Wasp added?
In the next release there are a few lower cpu and cleaner filters:

[*] SVF (generic state variable)
[*] SKF (generic Sallen Key)
[*] TSF (generic transposed SVF)

and also two new full filter models:

[*] AMU (transposed SVF similar to the ARP Odyssey mk1)
[*] WSP (Wasp SVF with CMOS buffer clipping making unstable wonderful fuzz)

There are currently no plans to add further filters to Live. Already in The Drop and not in Live are the MS1 (MS20 mk1), SHR (SH-09/101), and JPR (Juno/Jupiter). With the next release there will be a few more not in Live, and down the track perhaps more again.

What's a "transposed SVF" vs regular SVF? Thanks :)

Related to this, presumably ?

An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

I see. What would be the pros/cons of the two different SVF designs, then?

Post

and the obvious question…

WHEN!!??

huge fan of the Wasp by the way Andy.
That filter is filthy. LOOOOVE it.

Nice work!

Again

Wow a similar to Arp too thanks Andy :)

Yes, Osamu (hence the name AMU) analysed the ARP "input mixing" SVF and based on this and inspiration from other filters designed version that also includes a high pass input as well as the regular band pass and low pass, this design is the basis for the new AMU filter in The Drop which is shown here:

http://userdisk.webry.biglobe.ne.jp/000 ... CFbtt7.png

There is a large difference in sound between a normal SVF and the transposed form. The transposed one sounds more like a Sallen Key, but different again from that so well worth including in the lineup. A normal SVF always saturates the bandpass output to control resonance, the the resonance remains strong all the time, but the transposed version saturates the final output, so depending on the input a different signal is saturated.

I've also designed a new input mixing Sallen Key filter, so I need to come up with a name for that and include that as well.

I really love the part where the wasp-filter almost resonates as you described. Really cool job and impressive Andy :tu:

 If we have to wait any longer we also get a complete 3 osc synth as a bonus  :clown:

Where is it then? Let's have it. :hyper:

I've plugged my computer into the router with two cables and still can't download it.

I entered "download the drop wasp filter" into the AltaVista search engine. Still nothing.

Any news on the new update?

Post

Didn't mean to leave everyone hanging, I missed the notification of some new posts.

I've had to spend quite a bit of time on the new web page as I've got designers and coders working for me on things, so sorry for the delays, but the new web page is looking great.

I'm still working on the update, finalising some of the other filter models (the wasp is all done and sounding brilliant). Added next / prev arrow buttons so you can click through the different circuit models. I had to come up with a new way to warm-up the circuits since the wasp and AMU were clicking too much, but I think I've sorted out something decent. I've also updated the "safe" mode so that up around 15 kHz and above it ramps down the resonance to become as flat / transparent as possible when it reaches 20 kHz. I've also spent a little more time on my circuit solver to pull out constant sub expressions from the solver so that these can be pre-computed to save cpu, so all the circuits will have slightly lower cpu usage.

Hey Guys,
where can I get more information about the midi capabilities of the Drop? The information you can get from the manual is meager at best.

Midi is used for key track (with optional glide) and triggering with velocity sensitivity. There is no support for mapping midi cc to automate plugin parameters, this is current left to the host (which pretty much all already support, Pro Tools being the odd one out).
