I think that has to do with Windows not scanning for the harddrive, not the harddrive being faster ?

I had the same problem, it took over one minut to boot, someone told me to disable hdd automatic identify thingy for unused ide channels (or something like that) in Windows device manager and now it takes 20-25 seconds to boot up.

I changed nothing except the drive. I didn't change any settings in the OS or the BIOS. But sounds like an excellent tip I should try on some of my machines though. It's very strange my 1ghz machine will boot to desktop in WinME in exactly 24 seconds of me hitting the power button. Blazingly fast. My 'faster' machines boot slower.

fast/quality drives are found in both specifications.

Don't forget SCSI, as it too doens't hit its theoretical maximum either. I could go into detail why, but I'd bore you all to tears.

Yes, it speed things up, but why do you need more speed for audio? Are you seriously pushing 40+ audio tracks?

Needed? A SCSI controller.

How? Install a controller.

Would I use SCSI myself? For audio? No. For video? Yes.

Broke the rule? Oh HELL yes.
