Hi,
Nice to meet you guys.
My Question is about production:

1.what instruments you need to use to produce a specific kind of music based on genre?how many layers produce that kind of music ? where can i find the answer of this question step wise?
for example in know this about rock genre: Drums, Base guitar, Electric guitar, steel guitar.
but what about EDM ? pad, drums, base, synth, what else?how many layers of pad could produce this rich sounds?
should i use a synthesizer for base?or base guitar? square wave form or sin?what instruments plays the role of Accompany?
2.how to choose the right sounds according to the genre? what sample packages i allowed to use for EDM or chillstep ,etc... specifically? there are lots of vsts in the market, in what VSTs i can find the plucked usually used in EDM genre?or the pad used in today trance production?Nexus?omnisphere?spire?hypersonic?

Im seeking the great sound quality production that we hear in todays marketing.
thank you very much.

there isn't a correct answer to both question, in fact they are highly subjective topics, specially the second one.

I would say that it is you who must define both, starting with an aesthetic vision of what do you want to achieve. If you don't have one you will always strugle to find sounds.

There is a number of cookie-cutter sounds for different styles (house, trance, techno, dubstep, bigroom, D'n'B) and you can find ready presets and tutorials.

There is also infinite variety of sounds you can use to make your tracks interesting. Especially when it come to progressive / instrumental arrangements.
how many layers of pad could produce this rich sounds?
Quite many if you need it. If that's dominating sound, you can stack up 5 layers for pad, lead or bass. But to actually manage layers you need some skill ;)

Start with Spire and one Vengeance sample pack and stick to that no matter what, you can make almost any genre of EDM with those, seriously, also that way you will learn another aspect and that's mixing/processing, elements you hear in finished tracks are so much processed even if you had original "dry" sample that is used, you wouldn't find it fitting, plenty goes into it and this way you will learn majority of it without using every known shortcut there is.

Watch this guy Sadowick for few days and you will get hang on it pretty fast, plenty of streams, tips, tricks and stuff for watching, stick to him for a little, you will learn plenty.
This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here? :D ShawnG

Is this insane layering really needed in modern EDM? With all these synths having stacked oscillators, unison and all that.

I sometimes layer two synths for lead but no more that that, it is enough to make it huge. But I make psy and also something like oldschool trance, don't know much about mainstream EDM.
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try
