Coming to SONAR in Spring 2016

I have to say I am impressed with the feature set. My brother is a Sonar Platinum user... I've been on Cubase for decades. The Sonar updates and software bundles are comprehensive and the interface is more engaging than Cubase. I am too far along to switch but I can hope that Steinway is watching and learning from the competition.

So they choose to do something else with their workflow which is different than everyone else and works well for many of us who don't like the idea of auto-merging new takes. It's much easier to work with on bad takes.Kraznet wrote:Yes it should be a preference. But Sonar is the only DAW I know that doesn't auto merge midi during cycle record. I've been used to it since starting out with Cubase in the early 90s.
As I said, it's as easy as highlighting, right click and bounce to clip when your takes are ready to be merged into a single one.

I wouldn't consider not being able to merge midi as doing doing something different.Mystic wrote:So they choose to do something else with their workflow which is different than everyone else and works well for many of us who don't like the idea of auto-merging new takes. I'm not the only one who feels this way.

So a whole 9 people out of the thousands that use the CW forums agreed to a post about it over a year ago...Kraznet wrote:I wouldn't consider not being able to merge midi as doing doing something different.

I'm not saying there shouldn't/couldn't be an option to switch modes and I don't know why there isn't considering how customizable Sonar is, but to use it as a basis of a main complaint is just silly to me.

OK I'll drop the complaint then. Sorry for upsetting you. No hard feelings

Interface revamp is supposed to be released this fall with new skins and tools to create your own. Don't know how fonts will figure into it, but should be doable.

The ability to skin is actually scheduled for Spring (soon), not Fall.

Thanks for the correction. That's what I get for posting too fast. Yes, scheduled for Spring, and I'm hoping this month.
