I need a Kontakt sample library recommendation

Hi all,
I know this has been asked before but I did not find a good answer after searching the forums.
Basically I am looking for a decent sounding sample library to use with Kontakt. I am willing to spend up to $200 but if I can find something good for cheaper so much the better (free is best of course!).
What I need in the library is basically the following in order of importance:
Electric & Acoustic Guitar,
Piano (Acoustic, Clav, Electric),
Bass,
Strings,
Brass,
Orchestral,
Reed,
Synth (I have some decent sounding plugins for this already),
Organs (not too important as I have some ok organ samples).
I have DR-008 so I don’t need additional drum samples.
So basically just a good pop/rock library. I am not a professional musician and this is just as a hobby, so it does not have to be super-quality. I have been making music with the library that ships with Kontakt but that library is not very good. I did download some free soundfonts etc but I still find myself wishing I had a decent all-around library I could quickly browse through and select some standard instruments with. I am not one of those people that tweak one instrument for hours on end, I’d rather just select between a few presets and maybe tweak it at a later stage if I need to.
Thanks in advance for all suggestions!!!

I think the ProSamples line offers good bang for the buck. Usually plenty of mp3 demos on the site. Do a search for "prosamples" to see their entire line.

Multi-category sample libraries for Kontakt are a bit thin on the ground and buying specialized libraries will pretty quickly break your $200 budget. You might want to look at older Akai format libraries like Modern Songwriter from Sonic Reality, it has most of what you’re looking for (not much orchestral tho) for $149.

I don't think you can buy a multi instrument library that is considerably better than the library that comes with Kontakt for $200. I think your best bet is GPO: http://www.garritan.com/GPO.html

The PlugSound Vol2 has gotten some good reviews for guitars, etc. I'm listening to the demos now.

Well looking at the Sonic Reality website, Sonic Station looks like a good option. Although it's a bit more $ than I was aiming for I might considder it if other people think it's a good buy for what I'm looking for.

also you could check out the kompakt library,
it has a lot of instrument stuff and also some ethnic stuff and loops. if you want to concentrate on orchestral stuff for this money, get gpo or ewqlso silver

I use Sonic Station a lot. I tend to use SampleTank2/Sonic Synth as an out of the box machine, while Kontakt/Sonic Station is my software equivalent of a K2600, i.e. deep programming capabilities.BitFlipper wrote:Well looking at the Sonic Reality website, Sonic Station looks like a good option. Thank you Kajiki and Waywyn for the GPO suggestion, but the orchestral samples are not that high on my list and paying $250 for just that is more than I wanted to. That still does not cover any of the other stuff I need.
I think Sonic Station looks good. I can get it for $180 and it seems to have a bit of everything. Seems people are saying that Kontakt + Sonic Station is a good combination.
I'm wondering, since Sonic Station is quite an old library (it's been discontinued from Guitar Center), I might be able to get a used copy somewhere (anyone selling?). Looked on eBay but did not see it there. Anyone know what Sonic Reality's policy is on used libraries? Can you download the updates (like UFO updates), etc?
Again, any help appreciated.

Check out the Group Buy on Sonic Synth 1...this may give you a good upgrade path toward other libraries.BitFlipper wrote:Thank you Kajiki and Waywyn for the GPO suggestion, but the orchestral samples are not that high on my list and paying $250 for just that is more than I wanted to. yes, the groupbuy is a way to go.
you can choose the additional libraries you want.
I think it is a steal for the money.

I am now considering buying your Sonic Synth 1 Special Group Bundle. I am not too familiar with the products, so I have the following questions before placing my order (sent the same questions to SR customer support):
Will I be able to use the UFO product to convert the included sample library to use with Kontakt? Or is this only an option with the Sonic Station library? Does UFO come with the bundle, or can I download it after registering, and then convert the samples?
I understand there are some limitations with SampleTank LE 2 that ships with the bundle (one instance?). Does this mean one stand-alone instance, or only one VSTi instance? I use Sonar 3 PE and want to use the samples in Sonar, either through Sampletank 2 LE or Kontakt. What's my options in this regard?
[edit]
Another question. I see SampleTank 2 LE is not shipping yet and would delay my order if I select that instead of SampleTank 1 LE. Am I eligible for the free SampleTank 2 LE upgrade if I select SampleTank 1 LE now, which won't delay my oder?
I guess I need to get an answer quick as today is the deadline for the bundle...
Thanks,
BitFlipper
