I'm not actually sending midi data from FL to RC (I've tried with and without the pipe from the Notes channel, just to see if it mattered. It does not.) Rapid Composer defaults to MIDI Channel 1 when being hosted as a VST, so that isn't the trouble either.
dsan@mail.com wrote:It appears you have told Patcher to receive on MIDI 0 ("Activate MIDI In 0 for Patcher #2"), but have you instructed RC to send via MIDI 0?
FL Studio is a little weird here. What you would normally call a MIDI Channel is actually called a Note Color in FL (goes all the way to the fruityloops days, not sure why its done that way.) MIDI 0 is a port (there are 256 midi ports internal to FL Studio; each one has 16 "colors.") which we send to in Patcher #1.

VST.

If i host in Reaper (v5), then RC works as I would expect. I can also use the VST version of RapidComposer along with the VST version lf FL Studio, both hosted via Bidule, and everything works. I conclude there is specifically an incompatibility with FruityWrapper.

Post

I used FL for several years and do so occasionally still. I used Reaper to handle midi task(s) that FL had a problem with, specifically midi guitar and pitch bending/slides recognition in FL. FL had/has a long-standing channel 1 anomaly as I recall.

Hi,
i tried RC and two instances of Harmless in one patcher and seems it works...
you just need to add Color Mapper after RC.

as a quick test
i tried also
using two instances of Patcher as in your setup ( one for RC one for Vstis) but i get terribly note dropouts...
i don't know it could be patcher's problem or RC's...
FLP attached
i hope it helps a bit :)

I tested the FLP file on my setup (64-bit FLP and 64-bit RC); notes come out just fine. This is a bit weird, because if I create the same setup by hand I don't get any notes coming out of RC. Carefully comparing all of the FruityWrapper settings with your FLP indicates that an output port must be set on the FL side or else no notes come through. As a control test, I used Loomer Aspect and u-he Zebra2 within Patcher and they function without a MIDI output set. (In either case, the local sequencer still twitches.)

Hello Attila!
I propose to make the tracks visibility "View Filter", as it did in DP 9.02. It is now possible to see only those tracks that you choose from the menu (or a group of tracks). It is very convenient because it allows you to work with only those tracks that are needed at the moment and do not clutter the workspace visually (Though of course invisible tracks also play))).
  Sincerely lulukom

Post

Hi lulukom!
That seems like a good idea, I have not thought of that. A simple menu over the tracks where you can enable and disable displaying certain tracks would be useful.
Thank you!
Best regards,
Attila

I'm trying the v2.9 Demo out.
Has version v3 got proper track scroll & zoom, so when your hold your mouse over the track controls it will scroll vertical up/down with the mouse wheel then zoom vertical with Ctrl+ mouse wheel.
When the mouse is over the tracks it will scroll horizontal with the mouse wheel and Ctrl+ mouse wheel will zoom horizontal.
In the Edit Piano Roll has it got a cursor or note light up to show the notes being played.
Has the Edit Piano Roll got mouse wheel zoom/scroll.

Other than those things I'm happy with what it can do.
Thanks.

Hi crossovercable,

thank you for your questions. Scrolling and zooming works like this:
You can scroll a track (or the piano roll in the Phrase Editor) by dragging the piano keyboard vertically, you can zoom a track (or in the Phrase Editor) by Ctrl+dragging the piano keyboard vertically. Double-click on the piano keyboard will reset the scroll and zoom positions.
You can scroll and zoom tracks vertically using the mouse wheel if you use the mouse wheel anywhere inside the track or the piano keyboard. Ctrl+mouse wheel will zoom the track vertically.
Horizontal zooming is possible with click-and-hold or Ctrl+drag on the timeline.
You can use the mouse wheel on the scrollbars to scroll horizontally or vertically.
In the Edit Piano Roll has it got a cursor or note light up to show the notes being played.
This does not work yet. A playback position pointer will be added in a next version.
Has the Edit Piano Roll got mouse wheel zoom/scroll.
Yes, but only over the piano keyboard on the left, not on the whole piano roll.
I will implement every request to make the program more usable.

Thanks,
Attila

"I will implement every request to make the program more usable."
Thanks !! I'm so use to request falling on deaf ears with other apps.
I think this is well worth purchasing.
It's awesome that I can use riffs I have created anywhere on the chord track
and I just save the Kontakt instrument keyswitch articulations for each riff to the same phrases folder as the riff, to a non Relative converted midi so it keeps the keyswitch notes the same no matter where it is.

Thanks.

Not sure if v3 has been fixed but the Progression Editor could do with a scroll box for the chord sheet when you have a long song. The Sharps/Flats are set on Auto and shows F#m on Master Track and Gbm in the Progression Editor.

Maybe there is a setting I haven't found to give option to return the cursor from where it started when hitting stop/spacebar, also you need to click up on the timeline to place the cursor where you want, is it possible to allow clicking anywhere on the track to move the cursor to that position ?

Ouch! :)

There are big plans with the progression editor. It will be removed as a separate tab, and will be part of the chord palette which also needs a revamp. The chord palette will feature other views like "circle of fifth". This will happen in the next 2-3 months.

Thanks,
Attila

When I hear 2 or 3 month I begin to sweat......

Idea tool ? Really hope it is still in 3.0 and not shifted to 2 or 3 month....

Post

Hello Richard,

you need not worry, the idea tool will be part of v3.0 and is in good shape. The user interface already works, only the generation part is missing. I show you a screenshot:

This top-secret screenshot will destruct itself in 2 days. :)

By the time we get V3 it will be able to cook a steak and clean the kitchen. ;)
