Going through the Sci-Fi thread, I agreed with the posts wanting to see Niven in film (Ringworld).

There's also a couple more that I think are ripe for film:

David Brin's "Kiln People" which not only could be made into a cool film, but would also be a great base for a PC game.

and any of Iain Bank's Culture books which are fascinating, tho at times a hard read (but what do you expect from a Scot :D )

Others you can think of????

The original Foundation trilogy, although it is too spread out over time to make a movie IMO .. maybe a mini-series

I, Robot - But not done stupid.

Culture books would be cool, but I'd guess really hard to condense.

Some of Samuel Delaney's shorter novels would be good fun, and you get the bonus of lots of naked people. Not enough naked people in science fiction movies these days.

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

blade runner 2, but as it happens right after blade runner, I don't see it happening with a 20 years older harrison ford and a fatter rutger hauer (yes, roy batty is in it).
Actually, the book is more a sequel to the movie already.

Ender's Game is on its way, so that's one off the list.

I reckon some of William Gibson's stuff would make for good movies. (Johnny Mnemonic doesn't count)

Arthur C. Clarks "Rendezvous with Rama"....saw some info about three years ago saying Morgan Freeman may be in it...but nothing ever seems to have happened since then.

Maybe a "Farscape" movie?

My Life by Bill Clinton - especially the bit with the alien and Monica Lewinsky

Yeah, whats the hold up with Neuromancer?!? :x

Snow Crash would be nice too, but I attended a Neal Stephenson book signing last year where that question was posed, and he said it'll never happen.

For anyone who is interested in movies currently under development, I was going to share a site I used to frequent, "Coming Attractions": http://www.cinescape.com/0/devheck_2.asp

Unfortunately, the original site has been taken over by Cinescape, the format ruined, and lots of obtrusive ads detract from the browsing experience. Nevertheless, lots of info on upcoming films there...

Blood Music by Greg Bear would make a superb film if not done by the usual Hollywood idiot.

Most of his other stuff would too.

Asimov - the naked sun

all the details he wrote - like what the atmosphere of the planet is made off - the less gravity causing creatures to be thin and long - it's just so full of facts that are a challenge to visualise

actually that story is so bizarre i don't think my imaginative power can be improved.

The Stars my Destination - Alfred Bester

Regarding I, Robot - that's been done now. Just about to be released in the UK.
Looking forward to seeing it :D

Can someone elaborate on Bladerunner 2?
Not heard anything about this at all and didn't know Dick wrote a sequal to Electric Sheep.
