Choosing a kinky new synth...

I've been a good boy this year, and thought I would treat myself to a new synthesiser, and to give a little back.

Recently I've been having a lot of fun creating my own drum samples from various subtractive and FM synths. I'm well endowed in these areas already, so I'm looking to expand my options in a new direction.

Physical modelling would be an obvious choice here, and indeed Kaivo is current front runner.
I already have Bazille and Aalto, and I've also looked at Chromophone which is nice too.

I haven't been following developments recently so wondered if I had missed some other recent gems.

Preferences, though not constraints:

- Budget < 150 Euro,
- Independent developer,
- X64 compatible,
- Lots of modulation options, 'snap' for percussion,
- Compact, logical GUI once familiar,
- non-nonsense copy-protection

What would you buy?

Zebra... But if you're looking at Chromaphone, that would be indeed a good buy too.

Hi and thanks for the suggestions. I think I just needed a push to get Kaivo, which I did, and I'm very happy with it.

I already have Aalto so entry wasn't too bad, nevertheless I'm splashing around fairly randomly at the moment, importing samples yet still getting plenty of interesting sounds.

ArcSyn deeeeep! And sound fantastic.
The lfo modulation are just brilliant.
A GUI variation seemed to be in the works.

Hope so. The current theme doesn't appeal to me. But neither do Aalto GUIs. :scared:

I'm getting use to the GUI mostly because I'm getting lost in its endless sound design possibility.
But those knobs man.... :hihi:

I did look at Modelonia and I liked it also. May come back to it.

Kaivo is pretty special though - the granulator and the modulation options are really interesting. It's like nothing else I've heard - it's so... alive!

ArcSyn is excellent. Lots of fun playing with the demo (even if the constant whooshing noise is a bit over the top). But I can't buy until they implement the new GUI. Way too ugly. But definitely kinky!

Maybe also consider the TAL 101 ?
