Need information about ES-6

Hello,

I have the modules ES-3 and ES-6.
ES-6 is connected to ES-3.

My question is : for using the module ES-6, must I connect the ES-3 module to my soundcard (optical) ?

Currently, I have only one optical cable.
When I do my tests with ES-3, everything works perfectly.
But when I do my tests with ES-6 (and ES-3 is not connected to my soundcard because I have only 1 optical cable), it doesn't work and I hear an important noise that enters in my soundcard.

Can you confirm me that this problem is just because ES-3 is not connected to my soundcard (and not allowing the synchronization).
