Which mobile operating system do you recommend for a DAW / electronic music?
Does any operating system support audio units or VSTs? What's the deal with that? Are audio plugins something of a rarity in the mobile world? I'd like to go with Android but it looks like Apple has more support from developers... but that also seems to be in the process of balancing out these days. Windows could be nice because... anything that runs on Windows can run on Windows mobile, right? Or no? But even then, if the software isn't made for a phone then it would be pretty unwieldy to use on a small phone screen.
FLM3 (Fruity Loops Mobile) is coming out which sounds like it will be an awesome DAW for all platforms...
Which mobile OS for DAW/electronic music?

iOS (iPhone or iPad). Most audio apps are being developed for iOS, Android has a very small share, and obviously, there are latency issues on Android too, because it wasn't programmed with audio stuff in mind. Windows Mobile only runs Universal Apps, which means that desktop programs won't work. There are tablets though which run the desktop Windows, so that would be my first choice. Microsoft Surface for example is a reasonable powered device for running your desktop apps on a tablet/hybrid. But if you want a mobile device running a mobile OS, an iPad is probably the best choice for audio.

very good to know, thanks. That's probably all I need to go with iOS.
