Ripping Vocals question

I'm kind of new at this. Can anyone tell me how to rip vocals from songs? I have cool edit and acid pro and have tried everythng I can think of. Thanks

You can't really de-mix songs. If it is a really simple song (two parts) and the two parts take up their own frequency bands, then yes you can extract them with eq. Otherwise, you are still going to pick up remnants of the song in the vocals.
Anti-aliasing is for "synthmonk%ys".

Wrong place to post. And redistribution of other people's vocal tracks is likely to be a breach of their copyright.

there are a couple of methods, none of them works perfectly.
1) stereo cancelling - subtract one channel from the other. In rare cases it does the trick.
2) If there is an instrumental version available, it can be subtracted from the original, thus leaving only the vocals. I have written a number of MatLab scripts that do this, using windowed correlation or fft and combinations thereof.
...So it's no easy matter.
Then there was an almost mythical Prosoniq plugin that isolated vocals from tracks using heavy neural network processing. I don't think it was ever released - some people say it was due to a music industry conspiracy... Can't recall the name of it, though.

I think you’re talking about Pandora. It’s available from Prosoniq but only as part of a bundle (sonicWORX Studio or PowerBundle). AFAIK it’s presented as a tool to remove vocals from recordings, not isolating them.

The simple thing to do is to search to see if the tune in question doesn't have a 12" or CD Single with the acapella. You'd be suprised how many pop, hip hop, dance and even alternative tunes have these.
Basically the industry wants people to do thier own bootleg mixes now but if they get too big then they want a cut.
Mr. Rabbit if people cared so much about 'copyright infringement' whole styles of music would never have been created Hardcore, Jungle, Funky House, Drum n Bass, Ragga Dancehall, UK Garage, and P. Diddy's career.
Look, Mr Rabbit if it is any consolation I doubt anyone is going to 'steal' your vocals. :p
