This is why, in my opinion, we made music what it is, and why many audiophiles prefer tube amplifiers over transistor amplifiers.
interesting.

a very interesting read.. thanks
I knew some of it (from when I was 'researching' binaural beats) but the connections made in the text are quite interesting

also amazing to see that the harmonics pattern is the same as sounds I prefer and program in additive synths.. very useful for programming

yep - i was stunned to find it is a more scientific explenation of a premise i made in a more philosophic writing at kvr some years ago -spaceman wrote:also amazing to see that the harmonics pattern is the same as sounds I prefer and program in additive synths.. very useful for programming
namely this :
According to at least one source, the EEG pattern of the brain resembles the charts of the Schumann Resonances. Interesting to note also is that the fundamental frequency is within the frequency range of a mental state known as the Alpha state, where the frequency of our brain is anywhere between 7 and 12 Hertz.
It would seem reasonable that our brains, electromagnetic in nature, would be shaped and influenced by the earth's magnetic field resonances, and should resemble the same.

A grab bag of poorly understood scientific principles wrapped up to suit some pet theory the writer made up whilst stoned one night.
Classic pseudo-science.
Classic pseudo-science.
Well it might if you had some evidence cocker. It would seem reasonable that our brains, electromagnetic in nature, would be shaped and influenced by the earth's magnetic field resonances, and should resemble the same.
Can one indeed? The conclusion one can reach here therefore is that anything that displays the pattern of the Shumann Resonances of the earth will be regarded by us as being music. Anything that displays this pattern as a reproductive device will be considered as sounding best, or musical.

That just came across as a load of extremely tenuous 'space and time' talk with psychology mentioned for no other reason than to give it an empty sheen of believability.

You ought to read the bollocks the c**t's written on the rest of that site.cron wrote:That just came across as a load of extremely tenuous 'space and time' talk with psychology mentioned for no other reason than to give it an empty sheen of believability.

H.I.D. Hilarity Induced Distortion (the sound of electrons pissing themselves). However, the fact of alternate direction flow tends to cause a stopping of current at a certain point in time. So is this enough time for charges to push each other out of the way? The more the flow has to stop and flow in the opposite direction, the more opportunities the electrons have to push each other out of the way from the center to the edges. Could this be the cause of the phenomena known as skin effect?

Um... The "frequency" of the Earth's magnetic field is 60 cycles in the past 20,000,000 years, or about 1/10,500,000,000,000 Hz. Is our idea of music based on that frequency range? (I'd appreciate it if someone would check my calculation; might have dropped a decimal or something.)

Meffy
P.S.: A clarification. Not 60 Hz. Sixty cycles TOTAL in twenty million years. One ten-trillionth of a Hertz. Significantly outside the 20 Hz -- 20 KHz range. :-)

a law :It would seem reasonable that our brains, electromagnetic in nature, would be shaped and influenced by the earth's magnetic field resonances, and should resemble the same.
Well it might if you had some evidence cocker.
a theory always has a premise to start with.
any theory.
however - a law hasn`t.
but this law could be missused in to many cases

No. I re-read it five times and I still have no clue what you're on about.Emerald Tablet wrote:a law :It would seem reasonable that our brains, electromagnetic in nature, would be shaped and influenced by the earth's magnetic field resonances, and should resemble the same.
