+1 - this would be interesting to me, too.

It is beary enticing indeed.
"I was wondering if you'd like to try Magic Mushrooms"
"Oooh I dont know. Sounds a bit scary"
"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"

Guys, this is becoming unbearable.

It's downright grizzly.

There must be something wrong with that beer you're bruin.

You know how it is, something either works for your music or it doesn't. I find myself never quite satisfied with how it works in the mix and I'm not digging it's little keys so it's not a great controller keyboard for me either.

I still think it's impressive for the price and generally very pleasant to use and program but there is other stuff that would work better for my music.

fair enough! .... i'm sure someone will buy your keyboard pretty quick, given the waiting lists in some stores.

If it is not too far off topic, an interview with Minilogue's designer:

I look forward to the rack version! Of course, I am still patiently waiting for the Novation Bass Station 2 rack so it may be a while. I liked the sound but returned the Minilogue and bought a DSI Tetra (now discontinued) for slightly less money.

(The smaller keys were also one of my problems)

I am definitely a fan of that Team and Takahashi in particular.

Takahashi wrote:All products are personal because you have to interact with the circuit and you have to try this and that to make it sound better – a bit like an ongoing conversation with the circuit. The Minilogue required more of this because it was a completely new circuit and it was very needy – the first prototype was a rebel.
... emphasised for the doubting neckbeards ...

also, was hoping for something more substantial from this part of the intro:
"In an extensive chat with the two designers, we discovered how Flying Lotus and Floating Points helped to inspire the design of the Minilogue, found out about original MS-20 designer Fumio Mieda’s advice to Takahashi, and learned why Minilogue owners should keep an eye out for new features that may arrive via firmware updates. "

which only amounted to this rather self-evident morsel at the very end:
"These days, it’s quite common for manufacturers to make significant updates to the firmware after a synth or drum machine is released. Do you expect to be able to develop the Minilogue much further with firmware updates?

Takahashi: Minilogue is an analogue synth that’s controlled digitally, so yeah there are possibilities for an update."

possibilities for an update. great. i could have told you that ... i hate when journalists overstate the content of their article/segment etc.

but a nice, interesting and at times insightful read all the same. thanks for sharing!

Did you hear the factory presets in the video above? What does this do that probably all commercial VSTs can't do? Why wouldn't you buy Omnisphere 2 instead of this?
(Yes, I know, "analogue", "cool", "retro", yadda yadda yadda... Any demos that actually sound remotely better than any commercial VSTs, and doubtless most free ones?)
Im guessing youve never had a decent analog in your studio for a few days.

I think you would see that its not splitting hairs here, they are two different beasts.

Why get paint when you can use Adobe Illustrator? Why play golf when you can play wii golf? Why write a letter when you can email.

different things. on paper it's all math I know, but in the real world, ones and zeros sounds different than voltage and what not.
I'm not sure if any of you are serious or not... are you seriously saying that there is something so different about analogue synths that you can hear it? Have you any double blind studies you can show me to prove your point?

First and foremost humble and knowlegdeable. Complete opposite traits than those of the standard KVR expert. Secondly making a synth is not just about making a synth to him. It's a call of life and a philosophy. Finally it seems like the result of it all is great. Still waiting for my unit to arrive but I have absolutely no doubt that I will get bang for the buck. I want Takahashi for president.
