Apps for songwriting

I'm a songwriter and recently I've been using my notepad app in my iPhone to write my music. It's a bit more convenient and it's always available. But as I was using it, I was wondering that it would be cool if I could load a song, without going to iTunes and write along side it. So curiousity made me search Apple's AppStore for a app that does this ( there are apps for everything, amazing!) and lo and behold I found a few, even with the ability to record. So I took the plunge and I downloaded Songwriter and Barz N' Hookz. I must say that with these apps, especially Barz n hookz , I really don't need to travel with my laptop if I need to make songs on the road. I know this isn't a rant or a feature request, I'm just sharing this with you guys! Nothing like good programs to put in your toolbox!

I really like apple's new 'Music Memos'. I find it helps add creativity and the bass and drums features are great for inspiration or ideas.

Music memos is a nice lil app! It's integration with GarageBand is sweet, but when I speak of "songwriters " I'm talking about writing with words not writing with instruments! Barz N' Hookz does this for me. I can be on the road and not worry about finding a pen and pad to scribble song lyrics down. Plus when ready I can actually record vocals set to a tempo. For instance the other day I was babysitting my girlfriends son and a producer I worked with needed some vocals right away for a track he was tooling. I didn't have my computer and I remembered that I had Barz n Hookz on my phone. I matched the tempo turned the metronome on plugged in my headphones and went to work! Afterwards I emailed him the acapellas and he mixed it into his music. He called me a few hours later and told me that I saved his life lol and asked what mic I used and I laughed and said my iPhones. He didn't believe me of course so I just went along with his assumptions. Anyway I downloaded Music Memos and I'm having fun playing around with it. Its backing tracks is sometimes wonky but it definitely helps with melody creating!
