Keep in mind that I just installed demo for Dune and don't know how it feels. Just wanted to check if it's capable of creating this sound at all.

A general request for developers: keep all your time readouts in miliseconds and frequencies in Hz, so presets can be easily ported between synths.

Dune2 has 10 diff Reverb models, did you match the model to the other synth?

I'm always dubious about 'tests'. You don't know how well each are matched. I prefer to do my own and then decide.

Dune II for me. Sylenth is a good synth but it's stagnant. Who knows what the future it actually has. :(

Unfortunately Dune 2 doesn't have the "shit" reverb algo Sylenth have! :hihi:

Haha. Dune 2 has some nice verb algos. Pretty large sounding much of the time.

Demo does not and I need that feature :/

EDIT: Nevermind, I managed to run a test:

The sounds aren't matched at all, I don't think it can be called a comparison in any sense.

Having spent more time with both, I think Sylenth wins at simpler sounds (like when you have 2 Osc and you detune them :D ). Dune2 is apparently optimised for making big layered patches, so the basic oscillators may be less fat or harmonically rich or something.
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

That's all.
And I didn't buy it just because of that GUI (especially I don't like the mod matrix/arp window, too tiny for my eyes, and no GUI zooming anyway...) :(

Albino 3 + Sylenth = Dune 2.

Kind of. Having programmed a number of patches for Dune 2 I'd have to say Dune 2.
I bought Dune and Sylenth about the same time and have ended up using Dune a lot more. It's a far more flexible, deep synth than Sylenth. That being said I broke out Sylenth for a couple of tunes I'm working on and I must say I kind of "get it" now where I didn't before. Sylenth is more quick and dirty with a more limited scope than Dune 2,but it has it's place.

Z3TA+ 2 I feel is a lot more powerful than both of them, but if I were to choose from those 2 I would go with Dune 2. About CPU usage, Dune 2 isn't bad either, it gets bad when you use lots of voices which is the same in Sylenth1 too, although you can get SuperSAW with less cpu power in Dune 2.

It is indeed pretty weak, as if he included it just for the sake of completeness, without knowing much about reverb. Maybe it is a SynthEdit legacy reverb, the SE stock reverb also has that ugly metallic trail. I only use the built-in reverb to give for instance bass sounds a tiny bit of body, with Damp set to max, and Size plus Dry/Wet almost to min. For pads etc. I use an external reverb.

All other built-in effects are way better, even the chorus can sound excellent when tweaked right.

Rather 1 1/2 years. :P

Opposing to my first post in this thread, i'd say i would prefer Sylenth1 sound wise, and Dune 2 feature wise. Considering Sylenth1 is the same price, i feel like it would have to sound a 100 times better to justify the purchase though (and it doesn't), considering its features, and the features similar synths come with these days. I feel like Lennard would have done good, or would do good to extend Sylenth1's feature set with one of the next updates really. Retrologue has more features, and Steinberg sells it for 99 €, and in version 1, which wasn't really much less featured than Sylenth1, it only cost 49 €. Sylenth still sounds good, but not so good that other synths (which offer much more) wouldn't stand the comparison.

I also prefer the sound of Sylenth to Dune's. Just yesterday I played one of my pads through the TB reverb, it sounded so awesome, gave me goosebumps :) Even the fine sizzling was still there, despite the reverb. There was something Jupiter 8 about it. I never heard that sound character in Dune 2.

Luckily I don't need many modern features, else I would also have to switch to something else I suppose...

Dune 2 is a beast
