Hi all. Got a really weird issue going on here. Every time I click on a wav file to edit or a midi track to edit cubase either crashes or I get a white screen. The cursor keeps disappearing and the shadow when you duplicate a part doesn't show. I've took out a support ticket at Cubase but while I wait I thought I'd ask here. Searched, but nothing really comes up.
12 crashes today in a 2 hour session. Driving me nutso :x
Cheers
I wonder what happens if I press this button...

You could try the reinstall feature in Cubase. It has a repair function if you try to reinstall the software. I can't remember if it's named repair exactly, but you will get the option by running the software install over what you have. Other than that, I'd first run a temp file cleanup utility maybe something like C cleaner and then maybe do a quick registry repair run just before the reinstall. But I'm guessing you may have to ultimately get better info from Steinberg. Hope the reinstall does it for you though.

Thanks. Will try that and see how I get on.

Nope. No good and still getting issues, in fact getting worse. Cubase 4 on XP was rock solid. Why O Why did I change?

that is odd. i don't think i've run into any window issues as described since 8.0 (fixed for me in 8.0.10, i think?).
out of curiousity, are your video card drivers up to date?

yup. all up to date. It's definitely a graphics issue, the audio plays fine, until it crashes that is!!

Win or OSX ?

DirectX issue maybe? I'd contact official Steinberg support.. log a ticket with them if it really is a bug for your particular setup, then only they will be able to help you.

Windows 7.

I've logged a ticket with Steinberg, but while I wait I thought I'd ask around these parts. Thanks. :)

Sorry to hear the reinstall option didn't help. I'm running windows 7 here, and it's A ok. The only thing I could think to do is find a program that will help you to check your drivers, sometimes they find hard to find things. Other than that, I'm with everyone here in thinking that Steinberg will have the best clue. They may have a way to get a crash report off of your system, that will tell them exactly what it is. -best luck

Quick update.
Nearly 1 month since logging a ticket with Steinberg and no response.
Problem still exists and tried all updates, reinstalling etc. Works ok for a while then crashes. :(

I'd try

- updating video drivers
- reinstalling VC++ redistributable (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa ... x?id=48145)
- reinstalling .Net Framework (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa ... x?id=17851)
- reinstalling the latest eLicenser software

And in doing so my process would be

1) ensure all applications are closed
2) ensure the eLicenser dongle is unplugged
3) Install single package (videodrivers, vc++, OR .net framework)
4) reboot
5) plugin eLicenser and check Cubase
6) if error still occurs, goto step 1 and update the next item on the list

Next time it crashes

Go into Event Viewer>Windows Logs>Application (Cubase)

Look for "Faulting module name:"

Go from there

Thanks. Did that. Literally hundreds of items.
Surprisingly, it lists Firebird and Rapture, which have always been rock solid.

Interestingly, I downloaded Reaper to check vsts and my PC on a different host and everything works 100% perfectly. No crashes, no white screens, no bugs, no problems at all :-|
Am guessing that rules out any graphics or driver issues?

I really don't want to change host and learn something new cos I absolutely LOVE Cubase, but not being able to use it now is just soul destroying. Still no response from Cubase after a month as well :(
