I have 12 GB but in taskmanager Windows never uses more than 7-8 GB due to the amount of sampled instruments I use.

Although I selected 4 GB ram, I'm a multi-PC user, and they all have Win XP. Among my 4 PC I have 'up to' 16 GB ram to work with....assuming that they're all running at the same time, usually I only run one at a time, depending on if I'm working on midi with VSTi's, audio etc.
BTW, I run most audio tracks in PC #1, all VSTi's in PC #2, guitar (soft sims/FX's and 'their' audio tracks) in PC #3, and PC #4 is my 'mix' PC.

Strange ranges there. 15GB belongs to the 8GB option?! Strange especially since you ask how much RAM people USE, not how much they have installed
Anyway, I got 16GB, but it turns out I never use more than 3GB, usually 2.6 according to the Windows hardware monitor or whatever it is called... So on my next computer I will only install 8GB, spread over only two modules so that there is more airflow between them than with 4 modules.

Maybe there should be an option for every x+1 option, 256 options in allfluffy_little_something wrote:Strange ranges there. 15GB belongs to the 8GB option?!
I forgot to add an option for how much RAM a user got hidden in the cupboard, sorry about that.fluffy_little_something wrote:Strange especially since you ask how much RAM people USE, not how much they have installed

You don't see many of those around these days

There could be as much as 8 whole MB in that brick add on...

I think 8gb is really the least you'd want with w10 and a mix of music software.

OT, I remember buying 16MB back in the 90's for my mac. No, I said it, 16MB! It was really expensive (several hundred dollars) but it made a big difference
Like I said in the other thread, I've been x64 for a LONG time now. It's been awesome. First I was 8, then went to 16 (just to be on the super safe side) but I don't really use it. But it's there just in case.
Lovely not to worry about it.
QUESTION: Why da fuk are all these ram questions coming up lately? Are there really that many people who don't understand how their PC works?

I use 1 ram. All of 1.
I don't know what size it is, but there is just 1.
