Hi guys,

I'm on vst's for some time now but still looking for a good alternative to a synth ROMpler f.e. a Korg Kronos workstation or so. Is there any plugin that comes close to a synth that has nice multi layered presets as we find in Korg or Roland or other???

This all aimed for live use. Quick loading, low cpu.

Only, the demo that I heard wasn't that realistic and impressive?

XPand!2 is great, not very editable but classic rompler.

I'm unclear on the question. Are you looking for an actual ROMpler with synth capability, or are you looking for a synth with great source wav file material?

If it's a synth that will match the magic you get from the best hardware synths, Omnisphere 2 will scratch the itch best, I think. You can audition sounds in this thing for days and be continually inspired. Covers a LOT of bases.

HALionSonic 2 is also a great ROMpler choice, though I would suggest getting the full HALion 5 package. Tons of stuff with actual analog instrument emulations including a B-3, vintage synth and beatbox.

SampleTank3 has also upped their game significantly in the ROMpler department. No slouch in the vintage synth emulation department, but also tons of quality traditional instruments and percussion.

I agree. I got xpand2 when I bought my midi keyboard. It is a versatile rompler with most of the classic workstation sounds in it, plus a whole bunch of loops and stuff. I own a Fantom X7 and a Korg 01W/FD among other things and xpand2 is like those but with better sounds.

Do you need Protools also? Or is it a vst?

I forgot to mention:
It must have low CPU and quick loading for live use.
I don't see Kontakt capable?

Comes as VST too.

xpand2 is a vst but if I remember correctly you can also run it standalone. But I never do that with my plugins.

I don't have a standalone on my Mac, maybe it is on Windows?

Is Xpand2 heavy on the cpu?
