I played around a bit in Paint, changed a few things (button colors, envelope slider travel and grouping, knob markers, randomize dice) to improve usability without changing the size...

I like the GUI and it doesn't remind me of Synth 1. Psychicmodulation, was there any particular inspiration for your choice of colorway? It reminds me of '20's illustrations.

Phonec is "inspired by the mystique of video logos you hear at the beginning of worn out VHS tapes."
So, the sound and, I imagine, the colors were meant to recall those video logos.

I also love the UI (just not the size). I think it fits in perfectly with the character of the synth, and definitely reminds me of those old video logos. I did agree with Fluffy about the colors of some of the text labels (black on read), but the dev has already said he would work on it.

AU is not appearing in Ableton for me either. The VST is though.fup4000 wrote:As a AU?Robmobius wrote:Show's up in mine no problem...fup4000 wrote:Hello,

And on that note... The presets are browseable via Push 2 on the VST, which is a major plus.

Is the upgrade offer time-limited? Currently I can't use v2 because of the GUI, but if it gets improved, I would upgrade later on.
Regarding the oscillators, filter etc., is it basically the standard Chris Kerry code taken out of Chris Kerry's common SE modules?

Phonec 2 was coded by Chris Kerry. The oscillators and filters used are based on his modules, yes.Regarding the oscillators, filter etc., is it basically the standard Chris Kerry code taken out of Chris Kerry's common SE modules?

I wrote a blog post about this a while back while designing the original GUI:bftucker wrote:I like the GUI and it doesn't remind me of Synth 1. Psychicmodulation, was there any particular inspiration for your choice of colorway? It reminds me of '20's illustrations.

The inspiration comes from vintage electronic devices. It's based on what I imagine a synthesizer used in these video logos would look like today. An obscure device from the late 70s or early 80s, minimalist in design, slightly yellowed with age.

Oh, I didn't know that about the yellowish color, so forget my design a couple of posts backjack [psychicmodulation] wrote:I wrote a blog post about this a while back while designing the original GUI:bftucker wrote:I like the GUI and it doesn't remind me of Synth 1. Was it white plastic that turned yellow? All our devices I remember from the 70s were made of wood, metal, and black plastic

And our radio:

I was referring to the blog Jack had linked, there are photos of various consumer electronic devices on that page. But they look much more modern than ours did in the 70's...
