Do you live outside the US? Macs are extremely popular here. Most people use them. As well as tons of music producers,(inb4 someone's like "yeah, that's exactly what I meant. annoying Hipsters" on a f**king VST forum) And film editors. And high school/college students. and middle class people who don't know a lot about tech. All of those categories add up to a pretty sizable population.

And I'm saying this as a windows user.

Well, I uninstalled every single x64 plugin and reinstalled as x86 and was able to fool FL into opening the project files that originally wouldn't open. Stable for the moment but let's hope I never actually have to use x64 anything.

Still not thrilled about how unbelievably awful x64 plugin handling is. Oh and I LOVE that now the scroll wheel on my mouse changes knob and slider values. Who the hell thought that was a good idea? Does any other program in existence operate that way? F**king really.

But what's actual percentage of pro music, photography and etc. users in here?

10% max?

It's not like everybody on the planet is into it, that minority that is would change this pie chart significantly.
This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here? :D ShawnG

The amount of people running MacOS will be much higher there. It was more in response to klavierr up there though, because he wrote that "most people" in the US use MacOS. Well, the percentage is higher there too, than world wide, but not nearly enough to say that "most" people use it (last time i checked it was like 20-25 % of home PC users?). Anyway, everyone should use what he feels the most confident with. Saying that the one or the other is "better", or easier to use doesn't really cut it though. In fact, i've seen quite a lof crashes and bugs on MacOS, while on the other hand, Windows since Windows 7 has become less and less crash, or issue prone in my experience, and on my machines. Which is quite surprising, because Apple machines are specially built to run MacOS.

If they all operated the same there wouldn't be much point in there being a bunch of different DAWs. For the serious design flaws FL does have, I can't believe that minor idiosyncrasies like this or typing values being weird gets people emotional. FL has problems like not really supporting multiple time signatures, the playlist/mixer/channel rack all being completely isolated entities creating a ton of redundancy in the workflow, the MIDI implementation requiring the user to manually setup controllers when every other DAW works with a MIDI controller out of the box. Or how the program is window hell by design which is compounded by the aforementioned issues, and FL12 is so flat and uses similar greys all over the place that it's easy to lose which window is in focus. Automation clips cluttering the instrument rack because automation and instruments are totally the same thing. But the scroll wheel controlling knobs...those bastards.

Also not a new thing, the mouse wheel has done that forever. Since like 2005 at least I think

No no no no I'm not talking about DAWs... I'm talking about ALL programs.

You don't just hijack scroll input on a focused window from doing what it's supposed to do (i.e. scroll) to suddenly updating a parameter value just based on mouse position. That's a HUGE UX no-no. Someone thought they were being clever. If there's a way to turn that bullshit off I'm all ears.

I have no idea what you're talking about FL not supporting controllers it does that fine. You hit "enable" like you do in every DAW and there's your controller.

Until you go to use the modwheel or a pedal and it does nothing because that is all project based and not actually supported as a core part of the program. I think they did finally fix the default templates recently though, so that's good

Agree, I don't think most people use Mac's anywhere either, but somewhere more than usual, but not more than PC's running Windows.

Absolutely, personal preferences doesn't cut it really.

Personally here was different, but than again it's highly personal and it was more plugin related or typical user error, but overall I had less issues on OS X, but than again, early adopters have headaches on both platforms, I'm actually one of those legacy users with reliable thing going on (10.6.8 and XP), so I can't really be taken seriously about it, being part of some small minority in small minority. :ud:

Ahhhh right actually good point that part is definitely broken. I never tend to use that function so I forgot about that.

"...no one is using mac..." vs. The second most profitable company in the world (up until recently #1)
Obviously those statements are not contradictionary. The malware is rising probably because most Mac users are pretty gullible and think that they are safe and so are easily exploitable. But this does not change the fact that majority of the malware is made for Windows because the return is much higher. Mac's market share is like couple of percentage points.

Apples profits come mainly form other sources like iGadgets and iTunes and such.

Malware on the Mac is indeed on the rise..
there used to be 1, now there are two.

Still a bit shy of the roughly 20 million on Windows though.
