I think that also largely plays into considering that era as my favorite decade for music. The films were great too. :tu:

this one because I can enjoy all the decades prior as well and it offers the best in gear for creating my own
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Forget decade, I'll go with an exact year: 1991.

Nirvana: Nevermind
RHCP: Blood Sugar Sex Majik
U2: Achtung Baby (eh)
Pearl Jam: Ten
GNR: Use Your Illusion 1 & 2
Metallica: Black
Soundgarden: BadMotorFinger
Motorhead: 1916
Smashing Pumpkins: Gish
Massive Attack: Blue Lines
Michael Jackson: Dangerous
Temple of the Dog: Temple of the Dog

That calibre in one single year will never be beaten.

If I had to choose then reluctantly the 80s. From talking heads 'remain in light', Laurie Andersons 'big science' etc through the blossoming of the post punk bands, Husker Du, Minutemen, early REM, big black, sonic youths best stuff, throwing muses....

Then nirvana came along and ruined everything... ;)

(and also the rise of edm of course)

I knew most of the one's I listed but admit I went to Google to double check other's I had missed.
There are loads of them that were landmark albums but I just wasn't aware of them or wasn't interested. Another example is REM's something or other.

How much would the results of the poll be different if this were the question asked?
The more I hang around at KVR the less music I make.

Not much i guess. But then, it has a large influence on our musical taste for the rest of our life. So, it's all connected i think.

Eh, tunnel vision. What can ya do.

I don't like the decade breakdown...

I think the greatest or most creatively interesting time period in music was between 1967-1973. A lot of great music, now considered classic albums, were released which I've heard as being attributed to everyone being on drugs... from the artists, to the record company heads. Things that were allowed to be published then would never have happened before, and certainly hasn't happened since then.

I'll let you know if/when that happens. :D

Until then,...these days, I mostly listen to music from the 80s and various electronic music from the 2000s, and 2010 on, but I felt sorry that nobody voted for the 2000s, so it got my vote. The 90s music scene was great at the time but, aside from a few select artists/albums, I don't really listen to much of it anymore. I probably listen to more 70s artists than 90s artists these days. I never was a big fan of the 50s/60s music (before I was born).

Kind of surprised there isn't a "favorite century" option.
