Well if Apple can't be bothered to put it in GarageBand ......telebunke wrote:I haven't identified a new app supporting AU, anyone else?
Interesting: it was asked in the Cubasis forum, how the plans about AU are. It seems that it is not even clear yet that Steinberg is gonna support it at all?

- Use third-party instrument apps in your song with Audio Unit Extensions***.
Does that mean it is only implemented for instrument apps, not for effect apps?????
Well, better than nothing.....

As of today, Cubasis supports AU extensions. I was able to add iSEM to two separate tracks, with different presets on each one. I'm going to play around with that functionality a bit more this weekend.
Now if we can just convince the developers of some of these other synths I bought (Sunrizer, Cassini, FunkBox, bs-16i, etc.) to start supporting AU...

KQ MiniSynth - a sweet little modular synth similar in design to the old Nord Modular:

NS1 - simple virtual analog synth (haven't tried it yet)

Voice Rack FX - nice multi-fx plug-in that can be used for any audio, not just vocals

I'm confused. What's an AU Host and AU plugin? Don't we have that since years?

We've had Audio Units plugins on Mac for years. AU for iOS is relatively new and is just now being built into DAW apps, synth apps, and FX apps for iPad. The confusion probably comes from both formats having the same name.stardustmedia wrote:I'm confused. What's an AU Host and AU plugin? Don't we have that since years?
GarageBand and Cubasis are the only AU hosts I know of for iOS, and only a few synth and FX apps are AU-capable now, though I suspect a lot more apps will have AU support by Xmas time.

Well, the small number of AU synths for iOS is a riddle to me.
What's up with Animoog, Synthmaster, Sampletank, Amplitube and the like? Are they fearing loss of sales of their desktop software?
Or is it just more work to get support of Audio Units runnig and it just takes a little more time?
