Two new music documentaries to recommend.

If you have NETFLIX, just this month they've been featuring a new (I think) documentary about Keith Richards called "Under the Influence" about the Stones' original American blues influences, including the likes of Buddy Guy, Howling Wolf, Muddy Waters and others.

Lots of current footage of Keith and his latest blues solo project, cut with tons of great archival footage of the Stones, sometimes performing with their heroes. Very well put together, and, unlike a lot of documentaries, very engaging.

Also, if you are an Amazon Prime member, look for a movie documentary titled "Muscle Shoals" about the famed recording studio and it's history dating back to the early 60's. Anyone reading album liner notes anytime in the past 40 years should be familiar with this musical mecca which has hosted talent from Solomon Burke to U2 and the Stones. Tons of interviews and fascinating archival footage trying to get at the heart of what, exactly, it is that gives tracks recorded there that special sound.

I toured FAME studios and 3614 Jackson Hwy a year or so ago. It was a great trip! The documentary is fantastic. When Toontrack released their Southern Soul EZDrummer pack (which was recorded at FAME), it was cool to see that the background image they used is exactly like the studio. If you want to tour FAME, then call ahead as they only do it at certain days/hours. The Jackson Highway studio was supposed to be renovated soon after I was there, so I'm not sure what the deal is with that one these days. Supposedly we were some of the last people to see the pre-reno studio. I got to meet the bassist for the Swampers as well (David Hood) on the trip.

I'd like to recommend watching "The Wrecking Crew" on Netflix. Absolutely fascinating. I never knew they played on so many iconic albums.

My dad used to always say that Keith Richards is a walking corpse because of all the drugs he did. He's looked really old for a long time. Muddy Water's is a musical turn on for me and for all I know Howling Wolf is even better. It's so cool that some of the brits really "have" the blue's from the 60's and 70's era. I can't help have weird joy of Elvis for reasons known to some people out there. It's the impersonation dealym'bobber it's not the talent. Goin' To California is a song by one british blues artist who's name escapes me. But it's so perfect that album with "Goin' To California". Let's check youtube.com. Looks like it's indicating Led Zeppelin and other artists but their not the one's.. -searches further- Couldn't find him he might be rare. It's not junk at all. It's blues soul so it's weird youtube doesn't have it. The song goes "Goin to California, I'll be back there before long. Caaaalifornia I'll be back there before long." Anyhow. If you know the artist tell me because I'll add him to my Spotify.

I found the artist it's John Mayall. this is the California song. I totally love his album with California. The brit's are king's of music and literature officially in my mind.
