So will we see another beta out this month, or is v3 ready for the masses— how has everything been coming?

Thanks for asking. Yes, there will be another beta at the end of next week with the new working Idea Tool. Nothing else is planned after that just testing and bug fixing. I appreciate that everyone is so patient, and I am doing my best to release v3.0 later this month (working on RC 12-14 hours a day including weekends...)
Thank you!
Best,
Attila

Don't over-do it and don't forget to get some physical exercise.

Cool, don't overdo that either. Back when I was programming for a living, I got the best solutions to problems when I was taking a walk.musicdevelopments wrote:Thanks Jim! Today I was riding my bike for more than 2 hours, I just read your message

Thanks guys! You can request features in a 3-4 weeks. Now I could just add them to the to-do list. There is still a lot to improve in RC, so the work won't stop after v3.0...

Just new to RC so still getting my head around it and have not been through these 29 pages.
Is there anyway you can have an option to add an audio track in vsti mode.
When dragging a note or a pattern if you hold it too long it don't move, only the hand does.
Not sure if I have something set wrong but I can't get the v3 colors to match with v2.9.
Thanks Attila for all the new stuff in v3 !
I will recommend & promote it in other forums.

Hi crossovercable,
you made a good point about the colors which were set up for dark background. I have this on the to-do list for a while to offer color schemes for notes of different velocities. At the moment the higher the velocity is the darker the note becomes.
Thanks,
Attila

This is because v3 makes notes darker for different velocities. If you set all notes to 'weak' accent, the colors will be similar. I realize it looks horrible on white background, so these color schemes will be necessary. Not sure if I have something set wrong but I can't get the v3 colors to match with v2.9.
At the moment it is not possible because the VST version is MIDI-only, but there are plans to add audio, and make the VST version essentially the same as the standalone version. So this will come later. Is there anyway you can have an option to add an audio track in vsti mode.
This is a known issue, although I could not reproduce in on Windows7 today. But I have seen this a couple of times. When dragging a note or a pattern if you hold it too long it don't move, only the hand does
Thanks,
Attila

Latest beta version (v3.0b15) with new Idea Tool is available!
The rewritten Idea Tool is integrated in the main composition view. You can switch to the Idea Tool view by either pressing F3, or selecting it in the editing mode menu. It was tested a lot, so I don't expect issues. My slightly biased opinion is that it is more usable, useful and flexible than the old tool. The best thing is that you can regenerate a single track if you want, and it keeps track settings intact (track instrument, variations, phrase envelope). So when you create a bass track, you can either add 'Transpose' to the track, or move the phrase envelope down by 2-3 octaves, the phrases can use the envelope if needed. So there are tons of possibilities. Please test drive the new idea tool and let me know if you have a problem or question...

Changes since beta14:
- New Idea Tool is finished (in full edition only). You'll find it in the editing mode menu, shortcut: F3.
- Windows XP is not supported anymore. Previous beta versions worked on XP.
- Phrases are stored in binary format instead of in text files. It was impossible to maintain the text file format due to the many recent changes. As a result all issues about saving phrases (especially generator presets) are gone. Importing phrases is backwards compatible, so your existing phrases will work.
- 'Delete' behaviour changed when chords are selected on the master track: chords will be joined with the previous chord instead of deleting a section physically (with phrases) from the composition.
- Single click on the structure bar over the timeline does not change the current view, only double-click does.
- Shortcut possibilities added to select keyboard focus areas (currently unassigned)
- [VST] Bug fix: "fatal error during get_chunk" error fixed
- Bug fix: Undo does not change the currently edited line or part and does not switch to composition view
- Bug fix: shortcuts did not work in note editing mode
- Bug fix: an old bug was fixed when Undo did not restore edited phrase generators in note editing mode
- Bug fix: generating progressions for 5 beats per bar works well
- Bug fix: fixed occasional weird behaviour when using double-click during rhythm editing
- Bug fix: track is updated when a rhythm pattern dragged on 'Apply Rhythm'
- Bug fix: fixed non-working shortcut for 'Move selected notes to new phrase'
- Other small UI improvements

Exciting, thanks!
I'm having a brain fart with the beta link. Can you send to me?

Okay that's great to have velocity color but is that an option ?
What I need is Cubase Chord Track Note Colors (as in the RCv2.9 pic in previous post) instead of Velocity, I have it set to "Color Notes According to Chord/Scale/Out-of-scale" but I don't get blue and red.
Sorry if it's something simple, I'm just new to RC.
