Hello Guys,

Can anyone suggest a good alternative to the Softube Drawmer S73 multiband comp?

Like the concept of automatic multiband comp without needing to fiddle with parameters during the creative process.

Already using Presswerk for other compression duties.

Don't want to install iLok software just for one plugin. + having to connect my computer to the web every session. Usb dongle not an option either

Cheers!

-Fabfilter Pro-MB

amazing & no dongle required.

0r Sonalksis CQ-1. also very good but not as flexible as Pro-MB.

Yep Pro-MB is awesome, but it has likely a different sonic signature than the Drawmer (haven't tried the latter).

Does it have to be multi-band? Compressors with simple interfaces are out there. Sonalksis - even Waves OneKnob.

I like the S73's approach which is basically preset-driven. Limited but when it works it works.

Pro-mb is great, but not really automated in the way the S73 is.

Yeah thanks guys, Pro-Mb looks tempting but the S73 style is really appealing, so not to get lost in all the options during the creative process. Looking for that kind of compression you can only get from multiband.

Waves L3 UltraMaximizer? :o
Just kidding. :D

Actually the Soundgoodizer built into FL Studio is based on their Maximus multiband comp/limiter. Does some amazing things in seconds.

Toontrack EZ MIX maybe......I’m only 4 years late to this question.

Funny that I suggested Soundgoodizer 4 years ago and it's still the only simplified "one knob" style multi-band compressor I can think of. It's so heavy-handed though.

Maybe Xfer OTT?

its only PC and many more options available for Mac then this now

You don’t need to connect to the web or even start iLok with Softube products.
It’s a one time internet process on activation.

I just bought the Hofa Multiband 6 and I'm very surprised how good it sounds and how useful it is.
I also bought the SSL G3 MultiBusComp plugin because I couldn't decide which I wanted more. The G3 I think is a bit smoother for my master bus and the Hofa more suitable for buses and channels but both are good all around for whater you want to use them on. The Hoffa though has more options I think. I'm still experimenting with both. I've had the Softube Drawmer 1973,Fab filter Pro M and the DMG Multiplicity (which I think DMG has the best sound) but never really liked working with them for different reasons.
