How to record MIDI events generated by a VSTi?

Ok, I admit to be a little dense when it comes to understanding MIDI inputs and outputs in Cubase SX2, but here's my question:

Suppose I'm using LM-7 as a VSTi. Is it possible to use the drum pads on its GUI to record a MIDI track? More generally, for those VSTi's that have some sort of triggering device built into their GUI, be it virtual keyboard or drum pads, can I record MIDI events when I trigger them? It seems as if I should be able to do this, because the VSTi's show up as input sources for MIDI...

TIA,
Bob

I don't believe this is possible. I just tried it out and it didn't work. I think Cubase will only record MIDI data from the device specified in the Device Setup (All MIDI Inputs).

Yeah, FL Studio is really that great :D

Actually FLStudio can do this if the plug outputs MIDI - just point it to another plug and record.
